Nakba porn kingpin Michael Lucas bullies LGBT center against Anti-Apartheid Party

Israel/Palestine

Wealthy gay porn producer Michael Lucas has successfully pressured New York City’s LGBT Center to renege on its agreement to host a “Party to End Apartheid” on Israeli Apartheid Week. Lucas threatened to boycott the center and pressure its donors to pull their money out. He called the event an “anti-Semitic” affair held by a “hate group.” It seems that money talks, because I doubt that a progressive institution like the LGBT Center would have otherwise responded to an open bigot like Lucas who has used ethnically cleansed Palestinian villages as sets for sex scenes.

Israeli gay porn actor Jonathan Agassi describes his sex scene inside an ethnically cleansed Palestinian village in Michael Lucas’s “Men of Israel”

Lucas, who leads gay tours to Israel to promote the country’s supposedly tolerant gay culture, has celebrated fellow porn producer Charles Merrill’s public burning of a Qu’ran, calling it an act of “artistic bravery.” Last year, he joined the Islamophobic bandwagon in calling the Cordoba Initiative’s plan to build an Islamic community center near Ground Zero part of a covert plot to install Shariah law in the United States — he described the proposed center as a “monument to Muslim terrorism.” A laundry list of racist statements by Lucas would be so long it is impossible to compile (for more, see here); it is enough to note that his political views are defined by crude resentment of Muslims, the fetishization of an Israel that does not exist, and little else.

What is more remarkable about Lucas is the way in which he has fused extreme Zionism with homoeroticism in his films. His most widely promoted film, “Men of Israel,” contains a sex scene inside a Palestinian village that was ethnically cleansed by Zionist militias in 1947-48. Lucas describes the scene here (NSFW), deceptively stating that the village was “deserted centuries ago:”

…we went to an abandoned village just north of Jerusalem. It was a beautiful ancient township that had been deserted centuries ago…however, that did not stop our guys from mounting each other and trying to repopulate it. Biology may not be the lesson of the day but these men shot their seeds all over the village.

But again to get to the point of pleasure we had no easy task to tackle. We had to break down carefully replace the metal barrier guarding us from entering the village and hike up the treacherous mountain that was lined with barbed wire and dense torn bushes.

Never to miss a beat, the Israeli media was there to document and run a broadcast profile on our filming. Channel 1 Israel, the oldest and longest running public television station in the country, interviewed the cast and embraced our excursion Inside Israel!

Lucas does not name the village where the scene was shot, but my guess is it was Lifta, which was attacked by Zionist militias in December 1947 (five months before any Arab armies entered Palestine), bombed, and ethnically cleansed. Today, the ruins of the village are well preserved — so well that the Jerusalem municipality plans to transform it into a Jews-only luxury development.

It is not hard to imagine what would happen to an Arab porn director if he went to a site of Jewish genocide like a destroyed shtetl from the Pale of Settlement or a concentration camp, and filmed actors as they “shot their seeds” on it. Yet Lucas profits from desecration porn, and maintains enough cachet to bully a major gay institution in New York City.

I think this is one of the better polemical sentences written on the I/P conflict.

Yes-siree-bob, nothing says “gay friendly” like for-profit gay xxx porn!

“these men shot their seeds all over the village.”

Not to mention the “sin of Onan.” (BTW it is not true that I won the prize for Scripture Knowledge at school by secreting (no pun intended, never) a list of “begats’ into the examination room on my middy-blouse!)

I’m glad Max is connecting these dots between…people opposing Palestenian advocacy and the Islamophobia campgain.

That they seem to intersect so often is chilling…its as if demonizing muslims is for some, a strategy to get Americans to support Israel.

        whoa RADICAL link antidote.

Nothing was done about the rumors of beatings and lootings of Arabs and the everyday abuse of the local population; but telling the press about it was considered unconscionable. One soldier in the unit, who now works in marketing, says without sarcasm, “All that happened was that a few soldiers decided to call themselves the ‘Mengele squad,‘ to set themselves apart from the others – a kind of branding.”

In a follow-up story, Haaretz correspondent Dan Sagir interviewed a deputy company commander in the armored corps whose unit served in Jenin at the start of the intifada. “The battalion knew we were a company of ‘killers,’” the officer – the son of Holocaust survivors - related. “We were for an aggressive solution. We tried to shoot using all means, we injected gas into schools from which stones were thrown at us. In the battalion we were known as the ‘Auschwitz company’ or the ‘Demjanjuks’ because we made such extensive use of gas.” (Sagir also mentioned another, far older example: the facility where paratroopers are taught to deal with the jolt of the straps when the parachute opens is called “Eichmann” by the soldiers.

Attacked by Zionists!? Golly we ARE mean! Was this before or after the grenade attack on the bus in Lifta? After? Hmmm. Somehow it’s not retaliation when Zionists do it, since we are not permitted to protect ourselves.
In any case, that does not look like Lifta to me–too neat.

Shooting at people, running them out of their village, shooting at them again if they try to return home, looting their property and then bulldozing their homes? That is not retaliation, Yossi. Especially by the 500th time.

Was this before or after the grenade attack on the bus in Lifta? After? Hmmm. Somehow it’s not retaliation when Zionists do it, since we are not permitted to protect ourselves.

Maybe you are unaware of this, maybe you don’t care, but your recitation is leaving out a vital part of the chronology. According to every history of the events leading up to the ethnic cleansing of Lifta that I have read, it started, not with the grenade attack you mention, but rather with the murder of the Lifta gas station owner by the Haganah, while led to the retaliatory grenade attack. The grenade attack apparently killed no one, but it led to an attack by the Haganah and the Stern Gang on Lifta in late December 1947 that killed a half dozen or more Palestinians, and began the ethnic cleansing of Lifta.

Ilan Pappe discusses this episode in his book “The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine.”

One particular case discussed in the Long Seminar [my note: The Long Seminar was a particularly fateful meeting of Ben-Gurion's Consultancy in very late December '47, early January '48 which helped plan the ethnic cleansing] was an incident in the western Jerusalemite neighborhood of Romema. That area of the city had been particularly quiet until a local Hagana commander decided to intimidate the Palestinians in the neighborhood under the pretext that the owner of a petrol station there encouraged villagers to strike out at passing Jewish traffic. When the troops killed the station owner, his village, Lifta, retaliated by striking at a Jewish bus. Sasson added that the allegation had proved to be false. But the Hagana attack signaled the onset of a series of offensives against Palestinian villages on the western slopes of the Jerusalem mountains, especially directed at the village of Lifta that, even according to Hagana intelligence, had never attacked any convoys at all.

      …….

Social life in Lifta revolved around a small shopping centre, which included a club and two coffee houses. It attracted Jerusalemites as well, as no doubt it would today were it still there. One of the coffee houses was the target of the Hagana when it attacked on 28 December 1947. Armed with machine guns the Jews sprayed the coffee house, while members of the Stern Gang stopped a bus nearby and began firing into it randomly. This was the first Stern Gang operation in rural Palestine; prior to the attack, the gang had issued pamphlets to its activists: “Destroy Arab neighborhoods and punish Arab villages.”

The involvement of the Stern Gang in the attack on Lifta may have been outside of the overall scheme of the Hagana in Jerusalem, according to the Consultancy, but once it had occurred it was incorporated into the plan. In a pattern that would repeat itself, creating faits accomplis became part of the overall strategy. The Hagana High Command at first condemned the Stern Gang attack at the end of December, but when they realized that the assault had caused villagers to flee, they ordered another operation against the same village on 11 January in order to complete the expulsion. The Hagana blew up most of the houses in the village and drove out all the people who were still there.

But, like a typical Nakbah denier, you go on to divert attention away from the 400 – 500 Palestinian villages and towns ETHNICALLY CLEANSED between 1947 and 1949 by Zionist militias.

Now, don’t go polluting this thread with typical Hasbara as there are dozens of articles discussing those very events here on Mondoweiss.net, a treasure trove of proof that typical Zionist fabrications are just that, lies.

Holocaust porn: a staple diet for israeli teens before enlisting into the IDF.

I observe this kinda seeding going on and I’m torn between utter disgust and deep genuine pity for israeli youth – that their parents and their society are insisting on handing them the holocaust trauma torch instead of a healing candle.

If you think about it, Israel’s ‘Stalag’ literature would be somewhat of an equivalent to 9/11 porn being made here purely for the pleasure of our armed forces.

I know we’ve got some rotters, I haven’t forgotten Abu Ghraib etc but I don’t believe there’s an active sub-culture in our armed forces trading 9/11 porn videos and books like they’re baseball cards.

People who care about israel should really start coming up with some working ideas on how to really start the healing of their insecure and traumatized society instead of spending so much energy and resources defending their violent and illegal land-grabs.

Friends of israel should be telling israel that getting a nice polish on a rotting tooth won’t take the agony away.

Stalag literature! I first heard about it a few years ago on a NPR radio show. They were interviewing an Israeli sociologist who explained in removed academic terms how absolutely sick and entrenched that genera was for most all Israeli boys in the 50′s and 60′s especially. And that it was really influential in the thinking. Although the really hard core stuff was banned, Stalag lit lived on.

You could almost feel the NPR studio wishing him gone as he was explaining what Stalag was all about and how it had influenced a generation or two of Israeli society.

Bosnia might be an example for Israel. In recent years an outside group wanted to put a memorial outside the stadium where so many girls and women were killed and raped. The Bosnian women had it removed, explaining that is not their identity and self understanding to take on, nor a desire to sow hate against perpetrators.

Blumenthal “guesses” (his words) the site is Lifta and then all the rest of the comments accept as fact that it was in Lifta. That is pretty much how this site works. Make an allegation, even if it is just a guess or based on hearsay, and if it supports your point of view it must be true.

This guy has clout because he is openly gay and active in his community and apparently a generous supporter of gay and lesbian causes. He has every right to decide where his money goes. Criticizing the center is unproductive. What is productive is to find it alternate sources of funding so that it will not feel pressured by one donor not continuing his support. Well? Why not find some rich Arab donor?

Do you not find it strange that this “awful” Jewish community that supports Israel is so philanthropic? Why are these “bad” people contributing to so many causes in such a significant manner as to make their contributions critical? Where are all the “good” people to counter the “deluded souls caught in Messianic fervor”?

At Claremont Institute, Christine O’Donnell Was Taught ABCs of Homophobia

The Claremont Institute’s most feverish passion seems to be opposition to gay rights, evident in the Institute’s advocacy against gay teachers or Boy Scout leaders and in support of “reparative” gay conversion therapy. The Institute, which publishes the right-wing Claremont Review of Books, was founded in 1979 by students of Harry Jaffa, a philosophy professor who studied under neocon patriarch Leo Strauss.

    link to thenation.com

An open letter to the president in the Claremont Review of Books summer issue from political philosopher Harry Jaffa:
    President Barack Obama
    The White House
    1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
    Washington, D.C. 20500

    Dear Sir:

In your Cairo speech [June 4, 2009] you referred to the West Bank as “occupied” by Israel. You implied that the Palestinian Arabs were being denied the sovereign rights to their homeland. But the West Bank was never a sovereign state to Palestinian Arabs. In the ancient world, Judea and Samaria belonged to what was then a sovereign Jewish state, a state from which the Jews were repeatedly driven by foreign conquerors: among them Babylonians, Romans, and Christian crusaders. However often they were driven from their ancient homeland, Jews always returned.

The millennial claims of the Jews contrast with the fact that the Palestinian people of today have no such historic claims. In fact, the Palestinians whose national identity you recognize did not exist before 1967. The West Bank was conquered in 1948 by Jordan, which subsequently annexed it and then later de-annexed it. It was de-annexed when the King of Jordan discovered he had added to his kingdom Palestinians who wanted to overthrow his monarchy. For the same reason, Israel does not want to add enemies to its body politic.

During the 19 years that Jordan controlled the West Bank, not a word was heard of a Palestinian people. After Israel’s victory in 1967, Palestinian nationalism was a creation of the larger Arab world, which saw in a Palestinian state a platform from which to launch Israel’s ultimate destruction. But they recognize that that victory will never come until America’s support of Israel is sufficiently undermined.
