Yesterday we posted a piece by Hedy Epstein about the upcoming anti-AIPAC conference, called "As a Holocaust survivor, AIPAC does not speak for me." Ali Gharib then tweeted the piece. And look at the responses from some supporters of Israel. Interesting conversation. Real venom toward Epstein's use of her own history as an explanation of her Palestinian solidarity work. Gharib: "These discussions reminded me of the long David Simon quote highlighted here the other day. These twitterers seem to be the people that, as Simon put it, are 'holding the Holocaust experience to be something beyond any possible point of comparison for other collective tragedy.' But they not only see the Holocaust and its tragedy as solely the provenance of Jewish people, but also only Jewish people who agree with their politics"

Well, I guess some holocaust survivors are more worthy than others.
Where’s the Likudist reincarnation of George Orwell when we really need him?
Clearly, zionism has so twisted its adherents that by now they believe that a holocaust survivor has to first be dead before they’re given legitimacy.
Perpahs the headline of Hedy’s article shoulda been: ‘Holocaust Survivors Should Be seen and Not Heard’.
So truly sorry that Hedy has to suffer these kinds of attacks and depth of depravity – from her own tribe no less.
I say to you dearest Hedy: your courage and commitment to truth is infinitely awesome.
Hat tripple-tip to you, sweet and honest lady.
Uh…. yeah. You know honestly, these responses pretty much speak for themselves.
>> As a Shoah educator I’m deeply offended by her using her past to try to give credibility to her current stance.
This “Shoah educator” must be beside himself with deep offense at the amount of “Remember[ing of] the Holocaust!” that goes on by people who try to give credibility to Israel’s (past and) current stance.
Why, some people have even used the Holocaust to justify the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians as “necessary” and a “required” evil!
Yeah, I was going to try to withold specific commentary but the irony of that response was just about as silly as it was onerous. “How DARE somebody take something that I get paid to talk about, and use it as a context for helping disadvantaged and suffering people! What takes precedence, my textbook knowledge or her personal life experience?”
The original Hedy piece had a response denying that Hedi was a holocaust survivor and I thought it was just some ioslated demented soul. However, this looks like an organized party line that has been fed to the tribe so they can spread more hate. Sometimes the whole Zionist enterprise looks downright desperate.
Ironically, Zach Novetsky ( link to tikvahfund.org
, link to cgis.jpost.com
) himself is using his ancestral identity to score political points. He’s not a Holocaust survivor (he grew up in Chicago, graduated from NYU last year) and he’s not a believer either (“I practice, in that I follow tradition, despite my belief that religion is objectively untrue.”). Interesting identity issues.
Let me clarify my position. I took exception to ZachofArabia insisting that Hedy Epstein had no right to speak on behalf of holocaust survivors. When i asked for clarification, he went into obfuscation mode.
I first tweeted this..
“@Ali_Gharib are @zachofarabia @idffan @EMET4u willing 2 admit Israel govt & Yad Vashem do not speak on behalf of all Holocaust survivors?”
Reply I got from ZachofArabia…
“@RepStones @Ali_Gharib @idffan @EMET4u: It’s a red herring to say *all* survivors. The point is Yad Vashem et al are REPRESENTATIVE.”
Whereupon I asked…
“@Ali_Gharib @zachofarabia how do u quantify who Yad Vashem represents? I recall some asking for the removal of their relative name.”
(Here i was recalling Prof Michael Neumann and his brother demanding Yad Vashem remove their grandmothers name after ’06 Lebanon war)
reply I recieved from Zachofarabia was…
“@RepStones @Ali_Gharib: I wasn’t saying Yad Vashem qua Yad Vashem. I was saying a representative group, like polling.”
My reply was ….
“@ZachofArabia @ali_gharib and Hedy Epstein , Felicia Langer or Hajo Meyer don’t have a right to speak for those who agree with them?”
ZachofArabia replied thus…
“@RepStones @ali_gharib: Stop pulling strawmen please. They have a right to speak; not the right to be heard and adored.”
I countered…
“@ZachofArabia wow..So only groups that are pro-Israel have a right to be heard. I get ur way of thinking now no need 2 say more @ali_gharib”
ZachofArabia replied…
“@RepStones @ali_gharib: OMG, no one has the right to be heard. Just to speak. I’m done conversing with you RepStone, i.e. not be heard.”
So for clarification i asked…
“@ZachofArabia so Yad Vashem therefore does not have a right to be heard? @ali_gharib”
ZachofArabia responded with…
“@RepStones @ali_gharib: Is this really so complicated? 1st Amendment: right to speech, not that everyone needs to listen to you.”
I then replied…
“@ZachofArabia yes or no. Does Yad Vashem have to be heard, u said Epstein, Langer, Meyer et al didn’t. Simple yes or no.”
the reply from ZachofArabia was ….
“@RepStones: Only you have the right to be heard. No one else.”
Again asking for clarification (and consistency) i asked…
“@ZachofArabia why is it so difficult 4 u to say Yad Vashem does not hav right 2 b heard. If u don’t your inconsistency & hypocrisy is clear”
Which is where ZachofArabia left it. He claimed initially that Hedy Epstein Hajo Meyer et al did not have a right to be heard. When i asked for clarification as to what he meant, he trotted out the 1st Amendment (which as an irishman, im not use to encountering, although im aware of it)
I then asked him for consistency on his part by him saying therefore that Yad Vashem also did not have to be listened to either, like he claimed non-zionist holocaust survivors should be treated. As you can see from above, he obfuscated and abandoned ship, when he couldn’t be consistent. i follow @mondoweiss and anyone can check my @ tweet istory to confirm the above. i apologise if I have offended anyone, i merely believe that Hedy Epstein has as much right to be heard as any other holocaust survivor.
best regards
RepStones.
Ok since seeing my reply to Ali Gharib and you guys on twitter, ZachofArbia has been back on to me.
He insists he meant Yad Vashem when he said “no one has the right to be heard”.
I asked him why he couldn’t explicitly state ‘Yad Vashem’ when asked several times to do so. He attempted to say he was busy..
“Some people have other things do besides Twitter”
I pointed out that i could see his tweet history and that he was active on twitter in the six hours since i asked him to explicitly state Yad Vashem had no right to be heard (like he claimed hedy Epstein had no such right) and his realization u guys had a thread up about the conversation.
I have repeatedly asked him why he refused to explicitly state Yad Vashem had no right to be heard just as he did for anti-zionist holocaust survivor Hedy Epstein, when he had the chance
“@ZachofArabia y did u refuse to explicitly state Yad Vashem had no right to b heard the way you explicitly stated Hedy Epstein had no right?”
Here he has again departed.
It seems only the thought of his hypocrisy being made public here has snapped him out of the 6 hour dream he was in (but still tweeting to others) during which he had plenty of time to show consistency, but simply refused to do so until his blatant hypocrisy was highlighted on this blog.
Again i encourage others to look at my twitter history to see full conversations.
Stay tuned….
best regards
RepStones
maybe he had to check in w/his handlers.
I found the comment that read: “As a Shoah educator I am deeply offended [...],” to be pathetic and funny at the same time.
The shmuck is an “educator” and he’s offended because a person who lived through the Holocaust is speaking about her experiences in life.
=====================================
Abe Foxman was an infant during WWII. He was born in 1940.
At 2, 3 and even 4 years of age, infants have yet to develop the capacity for full cognitive memory that would enable them to recall their experiences at that age.
So, by the same rationale, why aren’t these drones criticizing Foxman for offensively using the Holocaust for his own political gain?
After all, he repeatedly claims to be a “Holocaust survivor”. In that context isn’t his claim of being traumatized by the Holocaust offensive to those drones?
Amen, Avi.
To repeat something I said in the first Hedy post
For those curious to see who the “real holocaust survivors” are perhaps it would helpful to see who received the reparations:

Norm Finklestein tried to warn us of this swindle.
Please re-post link. It does not appear to be working in Google Chrome.
Thx.

And neither is my link. :=))
google nbcnewyork and key words in the url and it is the first hit.
they want to own the holocaust so they can have exclusive rights to use it for their zionist agenda.
given how many jewish studies programs are cropping up all over the country holocaust educators are going to be a dime a dozen within a decade.
annie, it’s probably the only way colleges will be able to get funded. All the good science and engineer schools will be overseas (in cheaper areas) by then. One of the top business schools in the world (awarded that) is in Monterrey, Mexico.
I have the same Hedy post on my blog but have included an introduction and her photograph when she was a teenager.
The Nazis stole a beautiful girl’s childhood but see who torments her now
Keep in mind that the US media is disproportionately Jewish and these are even more disproportionately pro-occupation and ethnic cleansing. Their deliberate lack of coverage of Jewish opposition to Israel is because Hedy Epstein, et. al., are the wrong kind of Jews which require the out of sight, out of mind treatment. A single Sulzberger speaking out might help to break the media pact, but I am not holding my breath.
