I didn't hear about this exhibit until it was canceled, most likely many of the people that attended the opening didn't either.  I suspect that the Middle East Children's Alliance and many Palestinian activists are secretly happy about the publicity generated by MOCHA's decision to cancel the event. All  photos taken by Youth Against Normalization.  This exhibit will be at 917 Washington Street, Oakland for the next two months.

    Wow. I hope these photos are seen by as many people as possible in Gaza. So many people care about them.

    When Obama can kill US-Citizens in other countries without any due process…

    What can he do to beautiful people who knows how to dress properly in his own country? (Photo number 4).

    This is a scary world.

    Maybe MECA can arrange to have this exhibit mounted in UN Headquarters in NYC. Be nice for the diplomats to see them as they consider statehood and related questions.

    Not only did the JCRC’s pressure on MOCHA to cancel the event generate international publicity, but also many other organisations are now requesting MECA to send the pictures on a worldwide tour. Wonderful marketing!

    What is being done to Palestinians is nothing to be happy about, and yet so many of those photos make me smile. The lady in the Palestinian flag dress with her warm friendly grin makes me smile.

    And feeling conflicted about smiling over something as tragic as the children’s images from Gaza also makes me tear up.

    It is a confusing and uncomfortable state to be in (and that’s acknowledging that no one is trying to kill me or restrict my freedom to the extent that theirs are…for the time being, as far as I can tell).

    Well, MECA never responded to my email query about purchasing T-Shirts. You’d think they’d WANT as much exposure as they can get. My clientele is super high end, and they would be bound to ask “Whats that shirt you’re wearing???”

      POA, MECA has been ***inundated*** with emails and offers of help over all this. Not replying straight away is nothing personal, and I am sure they are most grateful to you for your interest and will respond in time.

        I volunteered yesterday at the new storefront “gallery” where the Gaza kids’ art is now on display. MECA is selling very nice t-shirts with the image of the little girl crying behind bars. They’re available in red or black, in various sizes, at $15 each. They don’t have an online store, but if you e-mail again or call – MECA@MECAforPeace.org or 510 548-0542 – and offer a little extra donation to cover shipping and their trouble, you might be able to work something out. If that doesn’t work, get a friend in the East Bay to stop in at the MECA office or the storefront and buy what you want. If that’s not possible, and you really, really want one (or more), e-mail me at henry@norr.com.

    This incredible and massive response should and needs to be done every time censorship occurs. Thats exactly what the zios do any time someone attempts to expose Israel’s true colors. They rally the troops and bombard the source with calls, emails, and protests until they get the desired results. We need to do the same, although in a much more classy and genuine manner.

    Kudos to everybody involved in this effort. And thank you Annie (and Phil) for your first hand accounts. It is truly inspiring to see this magnitude of support and compassion towards out fellow man (and children)

      actually it is henry norr who is to credit for bring the ‘first hand account’ to this site. and massive kudos to seham for covering this story from the get go with precision. i just made a few comments here and there. phil broke it but lately has been in the territories and not on the front lines of this particular event although he and adam always deserves (huge) kudos for their massive support for hosting and encouragement.
