Israeli construction in E1 is slap in the face to US

The big news that Mondoweiss recently highlighted (here by Allison Deger and here by Annie Robbins) is that construction in the controversial “E1” area in Jerusalem has restarted again, according to a Haaretz report. Completion of illegal settlement infrastructure and homes in the area would bisect the West Bank.

But what the move also represents is a big, giant slap in the face to the United States. As Nir Hasson explains in Haaretz , it was “American pressure” from the Bush administration that “forced all work in the area halted in 2007.” And according to this document from the “Palestine Papers,” President Barack Obama “said he got Israel to commit to stop construction in E1” early on in his term. The US knows that no Palestinian official could accept an agreement that allows Israel to bisect the West Bank, though completion of construction in E1 would be only the most egregious example in a line of Israeli obstacles that has already carved up the West Bank.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is going ahead with E1 construction because he knows Israel can get away with it, especially in a US election year. And because of the Israeli government’s move, the next president (Obama or someone else) may wake up and realize there’s no way to shove this Palestinian bantustan down the PA’s throat.

Hardly the first and surely not the last slap in the face.

The Israeli’s are really going for the gusto – unions really need to step up here and refuse to off load Israeli ships, or refuse them entry into ports – the political class won’t do anything – BDS BDS BDS!!

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is going ahead with E1 construction because he knows Israel can get away with it, especially in a US election year.”

In a election year…..Exactly.
And at root?….political pandering to zionist money and to heavily older Jewish voter states like Fl.
Might as well admit and own the problem.
Remove the political money and remove the foreign lobby, AIPAC and the individual US zionist, even in congress, wouldn’t have the influence they do.

What I also can’t help but consider in what Israel keeps doing is the trillions upon trillions upon trillions of US and international money that will have fallen down down the zionist bottomless pit when it all falls apart.
And it will fall apart. There is no way 7 million zionist in Israel or 11 million Jews are ever going to be a “world power” or even a ruling power in the ME, it just will never happen…not even with the US behind them.
But because this is their real delusion, their ‘power’ delusion, buried under the self determination claim and all mixed up with victimhood and ancient myth, they will keep pushing and pursuing it and it will end in disaster for them and everyone around and involved with them.
It’s going to be a gaint freaking mess.

Israel has more than slapped the US in the face, once Obama suggested a fairer approach, they punched the US in the face. Now that the US has gone back to being compliant and obsequious to their Israeli handlers, Israel can proceed in its apartheid construction, knowing nobody will utter a word. The mafia state has put the frighteners on any US politician stupid enough to speak the truth, or stand up for human rights.
