Ami Kaufman at +972 picked this up. Channel 10′s scoreboard on the Gaza hostilities. “Well, here’s the score from this weekend’s game, as Israel’s Channel 10 sees it (I’d like to point out that their “score” includes children, as well).” Better than Cast Lead… Nothing more to say.

We’ll watch this and call a guy who “loves” the society that produces this disgusting racist bile “a national treasure” like I saw the other day on a thread here.

Sorry, you don’t get to “love” Israel and still maintain any sense of universal humanity. And Im not backing down from that.

“I shall always choose the Jewish cause. Not blindly, not arbitrarily, but with full knowledge of who I am and where I must be. ”

Well, here it is. 25-0 for the cause. Disgusting.

That’s about the size of it, Dan. Yup, we got a guy who can’t even convince his mother, or insist she treat him as a man, but he’s going to “redeem” the Zionist Jews of the US.

This is the most dreadful image. A war blandly incorporated into the ritual framework of weekend sport.

Is there any glimmer here? If Israel’s war on Palestine were a sport, would there be rules? Would fans accumulate for the underdog? Would they appoint a referee? Would they soon practice the ritual and not the thing itself?

Well the Romans certainly turned their war on the Christians and other enemies into sporting events. Wasn’t the coliseum built for that purpose?

Of course we all know the stories during Cast Led, with the crowds of Israelis setting up picnic spreads and cheering while white phosphorus rained down on the Gazans. Sixty-five years of perpetual war will change a population — hard to believe they would descend to a level of civilization found in 200AD though.

        @ ToivoS,

Myths are certainly part of mankind’s history, but should never be confused with what we consider to be the truth.

I try to draw conclusions based on verifiable evidence. Even when facts side with fiction and the outcome is rather sketchy I prefer to opt for rational, instead of emotional thought.

Seeing this scoreboard makes my heart cringe and turn away, both morally as well as spiritually, from this rogue entity called Israel, those who live in it and those who defend it.

        No more.

Just one last thing – and this will be it for me here: People get to hate Zionism. People get to loathe Zionists, whatever they call themselves – liberal or otherwise. And yes, people get to dislike those who speak in platitudes about Israel.

No one is taken seriously or thought to be a moral person if they go running around talking about how Soviet Communism (for example) was a worthy cause as they slaughtered and starved people – but because jewish israeli’s are jewish, we have to say nothing in regards to Israel and their defenders. MJ Rosenberg, your boy, being one of them.

You all have a glaring moral blind spot. And yes, Mondoweiss is indeed becoming “The best Liberal Zionist Website” Going. See y’all later………..

The reader commentary around here is excellent. And the subject matter of the posts themselves have crucial information, whether they are from Alex Kane, of Phil, or Adam, or any of the other guest writers.

While, I agree that there is at times a cringe-worthy Zionist apologist feel to some of Phil’s work, especially… I don’t see that as a reason to stop visiting the site and contributing in opposition to those apologetics.

Look to Rwanda… to Serbia… to Palestine… to Iraq… to Iran. Nothing in contemporary history is really as it has been presented.

Dan, I don’t want to see you stop commenting at Mondoweiss, although I have done the same myself for months at a time.

I certainly agree with your criticisms about the morality of current-day Zionists and Zionist sympathizers, but I think that most in the MW ‘community’ are as anti-Zionist as you are. So I don’t understand your statement, “You all have a glaring moral blind spot. And yes, Mondoweiss is indeed becoming ‘The best Liberal Zionist Website’.” You all?

I do understand your frustration. I feel it myself. But it’s a slow educational process, and MW has become a significant instrument of that process. Over the years, as reader and commenter, I have watched the prevailing tenor at MW gradually change from cautious ‘non-Zionist’ to confirmed ‘anti-Zionist,’ from preferred 2SS to only-option 1SS.

Despite all our faults and failings, the American people on the whole, including most Jewish Americans, are a moral people. The great enemy of a proper public morality is ignorance. Mondoweiss has a role to play in dispelling that ignorance about Israel/Palestine, and in arguing for a morality founded on justice.

You have been a part of that effort, and so I hope that, after a few deep breaths, you will rejoin it.

        @ Dan Crowther,

When A web site consists out of members/participants who slap themselves on the back ‘cuz we’re all agreeing, dude,’ something’s utterly wrong.

It’s wrong when we can’t talk about the USS Liberty, 911, the holocaust and other words and terms deemed a big ‘no-go’ at Mondoweiss, because banning [of words and individuals - I want Witty back by the way] isn’t the answer to problems, its why facts and news get sanitized and thus rendered useless.

Moderate after people complain, don’t censor based on faceless moderator’s whims [whatever those whims might be]. I sincerely believe in free speech and rather choose to slosh through bile than work my way through sterilized senselessness.

        These are my thoughts.

Modern mass media exists outside of Israel as well, not even on Fox News have I seen such blatant disregard for human life, their coverage of the Iraq & Afghanistan invasions and occupations was vile but not even Roger Ailes the sociopath came up with anything this gross. This is a product of 60 years of dehumanising the other. That process is not a uniquely Zionist one, it’s the same process that allowed otherwise average Americans to accept the lynching of black people. Every nation has done it at some point or another and it started LONG before mass media whether modern or not. This instance is absolutely 100% the result of decades of Zionist dehumanisation of Palestinians.

It’s just another sign of how sick the mainstream Zionist mentality has become. Presumably you need to educate this kind of sociopathy over many years into the population to get a situation where one of the national channels will broadcast such a feature and know that it will be accepted without question. I wonder what thinking Israelis think when they see such crap.

If Israelis were familiar with how things are done in other countries perhaps their culture would be less dysfunctional . I just can’t imagine the BBC showing a graphic of Taliban vs British dead

Sebastian Haffner comments in one of his books how Germans on the home front during World War One came to regard war reports like those from sporting events. If memory serves, he also connects this mentality with the Nazis coming to power.

Nothing captures the Israeli attitude to Gaza or the Hebrew morality bubble better than this video of a Jewish Israeli Channel 10 presenter talking to Dr Izz el-Deen Abu el Aish moments after the Israeli army liquidated his family

Everything is nice on TV everywhere and no problem is too much to answer with a smile and a can do attitude – the presenter ask Dr abu el Aish if a call to the local IDF murder squad would help.

Drip, drip, drip. The internet is the best weapon against Israeli atrocities. The Hasbara is repeated over and over. We can do the same, poking holes in the Israeli BS.

So regular readers please forgive if I repeat often for the sake of irregulars, those who’re unsure or who just lurk and read. They can be informed and armed with factual argument against the Hasbara and its peddlers next they should meet

Almost everything Israel says about the Palestinian issue, Israel’s borders, its right to self defense, its right to the “land of Israel” is easily shown by Israel’s own words, to be either a lie or completely illogical.

The law and the UN Charter are actually in favour of the Palestinians. Only the US veto vote in the UNSC stops Israel from being rightfully held to account.

If Israel has its way, this is how future conflicts with Gaza-based terrorists will unfold: Israeli aircraft launch surgical strikes on rocket launchers; terrorist leaders are assassinated as necessary; Israeli civilians along the southern frontier are protected by advanced technology that shoots enemy rockets out of the sky; and the world, preoccupied with other matters, is too distracted to object.
Israeli children take cover inside a shelter at Kibbutz Nir Oz, near the Gaza border, as a rocket alarm sounds.

The clashes this weekend provide a glimpse of what this brave new world of warcraft might look like.

    …..

with the world largely distracted by the violence in Syria and a looming confrontation with Iran, it seems that Israel’s leaders viewed this as an opportune moment to strike.

“The Americans are busy with presidential elections, Syria is involved in a civil war, which means that its proxy in Lebanon — Hezbollah — has been weakened, and Egypt is dependent on the U.S. and is in no position to do anything,” said Professor Efraim Inbar of the Begin-Sadat (BESA) Center for Strategic Studies at Bar Ilan University. “Most of the world would be relieved that Israel is tied down in Gaza and not planning an attack on Iran.”

Kibbutz Nir Oz is actually in territory not slated for the Jewish state. Never declared by the Jewish People’s Council as a part of Israel, never recognized as Israeli, illegally acquired by war by Israel and never legally annexed to Israel. Israelis in Kibbutz Nir Ozhave been duped/educated/brainwashed into thinking they are living in Israel.
