The poll also found that 33.5 percent of Jews and 23 percent of Arabs identified with recent acts of violence against African migrants perpetrated by demonstrators and residents of South Tel Aviv. According to the IDI this was “very surprising, considering that most people do not tend to openly report sympathy for acts that are broadly condemned by society.”
i don’t find the headline here or the news analysis an accurate reflection of how pervasive the problem is, according the poll numbers at least. the quote above from the news article is a study in self-deception and contradiction as there has been no distinct, broad condemnation of the use of violence against non-jewish israelis in israel proper or the OT. by way of further example,the fact that the majority of ‘jewish israelis’ consider african migrants ‘a cancer’ is a greater indicator of the propensity to violence than the open condonation of violence. who is kidding who here? people who have reduced another people to a malignant cellular mass have already taken the necessary first step towards approval of violence against that mass, whether the violence is surgically precise or not.
a better title for the post would be ‘33% openly condone violence; another 19% in denial.’
Speaking of percentages, if you can figure out what percent of Israeli Jews support the occupation and cleansing of the Palestinians, you have the percentage of Israeli Jews who are racists.
