Which lobby is more powerful?

President Obama is taking the “gun lobby” head on. He thinks the phrase is useful politically. In his rage yesterday over the Senate’s failure to approve weak gun-control measures, he called the lobby out for lying:

But instead of supporting this compromise, the gun lobby and its allies willfully lied about the bill.  They claimed that it would create some sort of “big brother” gun registry, even though the bill did the opposite.

That’s not the first time. From a speech the president gave in Hartford 10 days ago:

Why wouldn’t you want to make it harder for a dangerous person to get his or her hands on a gun?  What’s more important to you:  our children, or an A-grade from the gun lobby?

From an op-ed the president wrote two years ago:

I know some aren’t interested in participating. Some will say that anything short of the most sweeping anti-gun legislation is a capitulation to the gun lobby.

A White House website search indicates that the president has never said the words “Israel lobby,” let alone called it out. Publicly, that is. Surely that’s because the Israel lobby has more bipartisan support than the gun lobby. Background checks for gun purchases got 54 votes in favor yesterday, falling short of the required 60 votes. Just four Democrats joined 41 Republicans in the Senate to defeat that measure yesterday.

Which lobby is more important?
More like which one is most unmentionable or ‘taboo’.
But who cares….destroy them both/ all.

What’s more important to you: our children, or an A-grade from the Israel Lobby?

Should we asked SOD Hagel?

BTW, Obama, then Kerry, next up Hagel–to visit Israel shortly. Couldn’t we have saved some expense if our dynamic trio waited until the annual congressional free pilgrimage to Israel?

Compzare that to the support for the backdoor Iran war bill…
California Senator Barbara Boxer and Oregon Senator Ron Wyden are both original co-sponsors of the AIPAc promoted “Back Door to Iran War” bill.

The bill sponsored by Senator Lindsey Graham commits the US to support Israel militarily and diplomatically should Israel attack Iran. As Robert Naiman points out in his Huffington Post article, this is quite different from present US policy which is to distance itself from any Israeli attack. This bill is also being advanced just as there are ongoing talks with Iran over its nuclear program.

The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) reputed to be one of the most powerful lobbying groups in Washington is promoting this bill. When it comes to supporting Israel there is bipartisanship among Senators of quite varied views.

Republican Lindsey Graham is an unabashed supporter of Israel who worked hard to stop Chuck Hagel from being appointed as US Minister of Defense because of his criticism of Israel.

You’ve got to be kidding. This just shows how far off your compass is.

What you keep forgetting is that bipartisan support for Israel, a foreign policy issue, reflects the public view; 9 times as many people favor the Israelis as they do the Palestinians.

With gun control, the Senate rejected a policy that is favored by 90 percent of the country. The NRA is clearly stronger, Presidential rhetoric aside.

● MY COMMENT: Perhaps not coincidentally, the NRA is making common cause with Israel and the pro-Israel lobby. I saw David Keene, “El Presidente” of the NRA on the boob sh-t screen and he said that when the December shooting at the school in Newtown, Connecticut (the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting) occurred he just happened to be (surprise, surprise**) in Israel. It was from Israel that he got the idea that there should be a policeman at each and every school in the U.S.* (like they have in Israel).
This is yet another reason I fear that Revisionist Zionism and Likudnik Israel (specifically by virtue of their inordinate sway over the U.S.) might very well be an “existential threat” to the values of The Enlightenment.
I do not want to live in a police/garrison state like Israel! ! !
Give me liberty, or give me death.

AND HERE’S THE NRA’S CHIEF ‘HIRED ASSASSIN’, “LUCKY (LA) PIERRE” : “NRA calls for armed police officer in every school”, By Phillip Elliott and Nedra Pickler, Associated Press, 12/21/12

[EXCERPT] . . . The nation’s largest gun-rights lobby broke its weeklong silence on the shooting rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School with a defiant presentation. The event was billed as a news conference, but NRA leaders took no questions. Twice, they were interrupted by banner-waving protesters, who were removed by security.
Some had predicted that after the slaughter of a score of elementary-school children by a man using a semi-automatic rifle, the group might soften its stance, at least slightly. Instead, LaPierre delivered a 25-minute tirade against the notion that another gun law would stop killings in a culture where children are exposed daily to violence in video games, movies and music videos. He argued that guns are the solution, not the problem.
‘‘Before Congress reconvenes, before we engage in any lengthy debate over legislation, regulation or anything else; as soon as our kids return to school after the holiday break, we need to have every single school in America immediately deploy a protection program proven to work,’’ LaPierre said. ‘‘And by that I mean armed security.’’
He said Congress should immediately appropriate funds to post an armed police officer in every school. . .
