Video: Roger Waters reads Darwish poem to protest ‘supremacy’ of Trump’s Jerusalem move

Donald Trump’s decision to move the US embassy to Jerusalem continues to resonate. One response is a new video of a Mahmoud Darwish poem as read by Roger Waters, with orchestration by Le Trio Joubran, a band of three Palestinian brothers, two of whom play oud. The piece is titled “Supremacy,” though it is an excerpt of a Darwish poem titled “The ‘Red Indians’s’ Penultimate Speech to the White Man.”

The trio.

Nice. I’ll have to play it a few more times to get more of the nuances of Darwish’s poem.

I was impressed last week to see that Roger Waters was one of the prime movers behind the noble humanitarian project to use modern forensic DNA analysis to identify the remains of previously unidentified Argentinian soldiers killed in the Falklands war of 1982, to enable their families to pay their last respects and add their names to their headstones in the military cemetery there (89 of 96 unknown soldiers identified so far). Waters’ father was killed in the Second World War when his son was a baby, so it’s no surprise that Roger is the man he is today.

I like Roger Waters very much. A brave man who must be attacked frequently by the fascist zionists of Israel and elsewhere.

Roger Waters never fails to give his message wherever he’s performing or being interviewed. He did it in Montréal a few months ago.

As for Darwish’s poem, it is a great one indeed. It carries so much weight for the sake of humanity, but humanity is blinded by industry, its everlasting money linked to, made with, controlling with, its power of electing servant States’ presidents, one after the other, right to the summum of stupid self destruction of human kind.

The industrial revolution should be needed again…

The First Nations of this world, in the Americas and elsewhere, have known this world for tens of thousands of years, learned to live in it, protect it, respect it, and survive thanks to it…

Now this world is controlled by oligarchs, very rich greedy, psychopaths, who forget or ignore one very, very important fact of life:

No matter how deep and well equipped your bunker is, your promoted next war of control of this only living planet will be nuclear, and the mortal radiation remaining from it will last and kill all living species for thousands of years, and that will include you. Water sources and air will be poisoned.

Of course, the bunker industry will keep that very important and negative point hidden. As usual money comes first, always.

Well done Roger!!

As Duke Ellington used to say when he and his band finished a performance, “we love you madly!!”
