the murder of the father and the son was premeditated. Israel wanted to scare all those who supply Gazans with fresh water. now i am sure this man borrowed a lot of money to buy this truck and start this small business. Not only had this poor family lost the breadwinner and his apprentice (future breadwinner), but also they were left heavily in debt. Israel loves to slaughter a bunch of birds with one shell.

what scares me most about the situation in Palestine is that israel's hideous brutality against humanity and life has become familiar stories we read in the news....

the mere fact that we spend half our lives talking about the border opening and closing and the power "coming" and "going" is what makes the situation miserable. Has israel managed to create a zillion ways to distract Palestinians from struggling for their rights?

Is not it clear that israel is doing its best to devastate Palestine and whatever means of persistence they have? This is the fifth! Meaning Palestinians also have a fascinating insistence on living... whatever israel kills, we soon rise from the ashes. when israel's insistence on killing is met by Palestinians' insistence on living, I'd say israel is doomed.

every time israeli shylocks aka IDF raid Palestinian houses, they make sure to exit with a pound of flesh-- and a sack of money.
Mainly due to israel, Gaza is living a hell, the siege, the aggression, the murder, the crimes, the lack of almost everything (except dignity; Gaza has plenty of that). However, we I think of the miserable conditions of the West Bank. I come to believe that the situation there is much much worse than it is in Gaza, the Wall, the checkpoints, the daily night raids & arrests, the settlements, the jews-only highways, land grab, human rights violation and (mom insists I add this) PA (which means minus dignity) make life in the West Bank a living hell. My heart bleeds for the West Bank.
Rawan is another story, one of dignity, of a little body insisting on carrying on the toughest project of all, the project of living.
The chaps 'Shebab' are At least 300 metres away from the nearest heavily armoured israeli soldiers. Yet, israel felt threatened to the extent it killed 1 and injured 30.

the occupation is the teacher of all hate. Palestinians are soldiers in a war imposed on them by a ruthlessly hideous occupation. Kids who regularly see ppl killed by israel, kids whose classmates stop going to school because they got killed or blinded or disabled by israel do not not need some one to teach them to hate. I am a founding member of CPDS and say all thanks go to Mondoweiss for organising this contest. I attended the whole thing. It was really a wonderful gathering to attend. Of course the best part was winners talking to us. Sameeha was as eloquent as the best writers. Mohammed was inspiring. Rawan simply made some of us cry. Her story is both heartening and disheartening. To understand the paradox you ought to listen to Rawan reading her piece.
That was an amazing event. I was there. the most effective moment was Rawan's reading her piece. Some ppl wept.

Rawan is the best young writer in the Gaza Strip. Her feelings are sincere, her words are piercing, her style is both moving and piercing, and her endings are electrifying. This young talent will be something in the future, very soon.
