I-Won’t-Show-You-Mine-If-You-Show-Me-Yours Journalism

One of the pleasures, or afflictions, of the Hudson Valley is the omnipresence of Alan Chartock  on public radio. Chartock is a political observer and professor. I will bite my tongue and note that some people evidently love him.  Anyway, just now, commenting on Hillary’s tears, he said that he went into a store in the Berkshires yesterday and a lady asked him who he was voting for. "I told her who I was voting for and then asked her who she was voting for." Well, Hillary; being a woman, etc. An analysis then followed. I bridled. A columnsit expects a source/civilian to tell him who she’s voting for, to be paraded on air, and doesn’t want to disclose his own choice, presumably because he is professional and objective. Not to mention arrogant.
