Rightwing Zionist Group at U of C Calls to Jews ‘With a Strong Jewish Identity’

Here's a good piece in the Nation on rightwing Zionist actions at the University of California at Irvine. The Zionist groups claim that pro-Israel students are being harassed on campus.

After the [U.S. Office of Civil Rights] concluded that there was "insufficient evidence" that the
UCI administration had failed to protect Jewish students from
harassment, an off-campus, ad hoc Jewish group issued its own report in
February. It urged Jewish students "with a strong Jewish identity" to
leave UCI and newly admitted students not to enroll.

Two comments. Alas it has become essential to Jewish identity, as constructed by conservative organizations, to insist on a climate of persecution that does not really exist. The real threat here is the threat to Jewish "continuity" posed by assimilation and intermarriage. Jewish organizations ought to fight that fight by insisting on the reform of Israel, whose apartheidlike policies, and the requirement that American Jews support them blindly, are making Judaism unpopular. No, I have no right to preach here, being intermarried. Just my opinion.
