Neoconservatism isn't a strain in Jewish life? Here are the Republican Jewish Coalition's Obama ads, surely bearing the stamp of Sheldon Adelson and Ari Fleischer and all the other Land of Israel bunnies, suggesting that Obama is a fearful man tied into ayatollahs and Muslims burning American flags. And worse: that his openness to talking to Iran would bring about a holocaust.
Pure Holocaust fearmongering. Come liberal Jews and reject this thinking. And what about Islamic peoples? What about the hundreds of thousands of Arabs who have died lately because of failed neocon U.S. policies? Did Iraq have anything to do with Israel in the neocons' minds. Is the Pope Catholic?
My tipster asks: Is the "us" at the bottom of the second ad a reference to Americans or
to Jews? Are they suggesting that Obama is a threat to Israel and to
America or a threat to Israel and American Jews? Is the "us" left
ambiguous on purpose? Either way, this sort of fear-mongering is
nasty. I wonder how many will go for it."
Sorry, tipster, this one's obvious. It's directed purely at Jews.
