Once again demonstrating intellectual leadership, Roger Cohen offers stirring words on Jerusalem in the Times

Another realist pronouncement from Roger Cohen (who is under Henry Siegman's wise tutelage here), trying to revivify the two-state solution by pointing out, as we have done frequently, that the difficulty of the Hamas charter not recognizing Israel's right to exist is one of those international fictions that is easily surmounted. And Cohen says this re Jerusalem:

The second [principle] is establishing Jerusalem as home to the Israeli and
Palestinian capitals. Jewish neighborhoods would be under Israeli
sovereignty and Arab neighborhoods under Palestinian sovereignty, with
special arrangements for the Old City providing unimpeded access to
holy sites for all communities.
