In June, the lobby turns to LGBT issues to rebrand Israel

Last week in the Washington Blade, James Kirchick of the New Republic trashed ANSWER's presence at a D.C. gay pride march, calling the antiwar group Stalinist. Kirchick wasn't very straightforward. What is ANSWER's big theme? Palestine. Here's a foto from Jewlicious of the gay pride march. Answer Kirchick didn't say diddly about Palestinians in his piece, even though this would seem to be his real concern. (Here he is in the New York Post, bashing Obama for turning Americans against Israel. "Israel Betrayed." And as we noted, Kirchick got slam-dunked during Gaza war for his human-rights polemics on the gay issue.)

O.K. A week passes.

San Francisco Voice for Israel is an Israel lobby group. Now it announces it's going to march in the gay pride march out there on June 28 not out of particular solidarity with the LGBT community but so it can show off Israel's (stellar) record on these issues.

This is San Francisco’s largest parade and is a way to reach a massive
number of people with a San Francisco specific positive message about
Israel!

These people keep trying to reframe Israel as a liberal oasis. Why do I feel manipulated? Here's a great antidote: QUIT: Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism.
