‘NYT’ and ‘NPR’ treat occupied East Jerusalem as part of Israel, no problem

The New York Times:

A few years later, Mr. Romney had dinner with Mr. Netanyahu at a private home in the Jewish quarter of the Old City, in central Jerusalem, where the two spent hours discussing the American and Israeli economies. When Mr. Netanyahu informed Mr. Romney of a personal campaign to persuade American pension funds to divest from businesses tied to Iran, Mr. Romney offered up his Rolodex.

Before he left Israel, Mr. Romney set up several meetings with government officials in the United States for his old colleague….

On National Public Radio last week, Renee Montagne introduced a segment on the Cenacle building, a disputed religious site in occupied East Jerusalem: “Israel controls the building, but the Vatican says it’s the actual owner.” Reporter Daniel Estrin continues:

Catholic Franciscan friars took custody in the 14th century; 200 years later, they were kicked out by the Ottoman sultan. After the 1967 Mideast war, Israel took control.

Israeli authorities have wanted to avoid allowing the Vatican to administer any kind of authority over a site that today isn’t under the control of the Holy See. So Israel limits organized Christian prayers here to just a few times a year….

For two decades, Israel and the Holy See have been trying to work out disputes over church properties in Jerusalem.

This would appear to be private property subject to article 56 Hague Regulations 1907, Here-Art. 56. The property of municipalities, that of institutions dedicated to religion, charity and education, the arts and sciences, even when State property, shall be treated as private property.
All seizure of, destruction or wilful damage done to institutions of this character, historic monuments, works of art and science, is forbidden, and should be made the subject of legal proceedings. In my opinion the Commander of the Occupying forces can requisition such property but only for military purposes and they are not his to dispose of.

“So Israel limits organized Christian prayers here to just a few times a year….”

This can’t be right!!! The pro-Israel people on this site tell us over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that Israel fully respects religious freedom for all people and that the only limitations they ever put in place are necessary for security from the big, swarthy Muslim men.

Surely there’s no problem with the Christians worshipping at the site of the Last Supper. Israel surely would never prevent that, ever, from happening as much as the pius Christians wanted, right???

Freedom of religion is a sham in Israel.

Both Israeli agents. Are they under orders not to officially join AIPAC?

(excerpt) Mitt Romney’s support from the Crown family, which is closely tied to the state of Israel and its military intelligence agencies, is most likely based on his decades of working with the management consulting firm Bain & Company, which is headed by Orit Gadiesh, an Israeli military intelligence agent. Orit Gadiesh served on Romney’s transition team when he became governor of Massachusetts. Romney’s close relationship with Orit Gadiesh and Israeli military intelligence is the real reason he is the chosen candidate of the Zionist establishment. . .
