Covid-19 is becoming a very dire problem in Iran. The situation in Iran is compounded by the fact that the Trump administration imposed a new round of sanctions on Iran pushed by the Israel lobby. Palestinians are hoping the Palestinian Authority’s desperate attempts to contain the spread of the coronavirus to the city of Bethlehem is working. Panic grew on Monday after the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that there was one confirmed case of the virus in the northern occupied West Bank city of Tulkarem, the first case of the virus outside of Bethlehem.

My parents, grandparents, and every Palestinian’s answer to the Trump deal is nothing less than intensifying the resistance for our legitmate rights and right to return, and exposing the international community’s complicity in Israeli Apartheid. In those moments, I feel the memories of my grandparents. Their spirits are looking at me and telling me, ‘resist Majed, resist, there is only one way.’

On the occasion of the Jewish Voice for Peace transition to a new leadership, leaders in the Palestinian activist community take the opportunity to honor and thank past Executive Director Rebecca Vilkomerson for her dedicated and strategic leadership of an organization that has done so much to advance Palestinian rights to self-determination, freedom, justice, and equality in the U.S. and beyond.

Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ) is calling for the Department of Education to investigate the Center for Middle East Studies at the University of Arizona. Gosar sent a letter to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos claiming that the program is “anti-American and pro-BDS.” One of the examples Gosar cites is a piece by CMES associate professor Maha Nassar that ran on Mondoweiss two years ago.
