U.S. envoy to Lebanon Amos Hochstein said on Monday from Beirut that the situation between Lebanon and Israel “has gone out of control,” adding that “linking the fate of Lebanon to other conflicts” — referencing Hezbollah’s refusal to stop operations against Israel unless Israel ends its war on Gaza — was not in Lebanon’s interests.
On a visit to Lebanon, U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein said that “linking the fate of Lebanon to other conflicts” — referencing Hezbollah’s refusal to stop operations against Israel unless Israel ends its war on Gaza — was not in Lebanon’s interests.
Hochstein’s remarks came during a visit to Lebanon, which included a meeting with the Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri. Simultaneously, Israeli media and Axios reported that Israel had informed the U.S. of its conditions for a ceasefire with Lebanon ahead of Hochstein’s visit.
According to reports, Israel’s conditions include allowing Israel to operate inside Lebanese territory against Hezbollah and freedom of movement for Israel’s airforce in Lebanon’s airspace.
The reported conditions come as Hezbollah has been intensifying its military operations. On Monday, the Israeli army said that a missile from Lebanon was fired toward the greater Tel Aviv area, while Hezbollah announced that its fighters launched barrages of rockets and drones on Safad, Haifa, and northern Tel Aviv over the weekend.
On Saturday, a drone from southern Lebanon struck the private residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu in Caesarea, causing damage according to Israeli reports. Netanyahu and his wife were not at the residence at the time of the attack.
Meanwhile, combat continues at the border area. On Monday, Israel pushed armored vehicles across the border into the Lebanese town of Aita al-Shaab. Later, media reports indicated that nine Israeli tanks had been hit by Hezbollah fighters since Sunday night. Also on Monday, the Israeli Ziv hospital said that it had received 15 wounded soldiers since Sunday night.
The Israeli army announced that it had struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut, the south of Lebanon, the Beqaa Valley, and Lebanon’s interior. Lebanese reports said that Israeli strikes targeted buildings in the capital’s southern district, the towns of Hanin and Ramia and the city of Tyre in the south, and the town of Hazin and the city of Baalbek in the Beqaa Valley.
We all know Israel has been out of control for decades. Last year way more so. Total genocide made for TV. Have to say what the U.S. did in Iraq was not covered…not near as much. Yes Israel, U.S. cut from same cloth in so many ways.
Now we have the boy who purposely called wolf again Blinken as if there was any possibility for a ceasefire. Andrea Mitchell over there with him. Both of them have been and are so pro Israel no matter what Israel does, neither Blinken or Mitchell can think or see straight. For decades…..Both of them.
