Former Israeli ambassador Michael Oren says Joe Biden “deeply supports Israel,”
but he warns US Jews of “major policy differences” between Biden and Israel, on Palestine and Iran, and Iran threatens Israel’s children’s future. If Biden gets in, Israel is prepared to deal with him as it did with Obama.
Angry that foreign policy isn’t in the last debate, Donald Trump believes his record, including Israel normalization deals and breaking the Iran deal, are a political asset. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris appear to agree, avoiding the topic entirely.
U.S. Jewish support for Biden (70 percent) is similar to Palestinian support for Biden in Israel (78 percent). But Israeli Jews? They love Trump. Dems don’t want you to know these numbers because they show that our close ally is a rightwing ethnically-discriminatory state.
Israel is at the top of Trump’s foreign policy brags in his rally speeches. He suggests he won the Nobel Prize for making peace where other presidents left “blood all over the sand” and gives a shoutout to evangelicals. But polling says he has only 27 percent of Jewish voters.
The “biggest thing you did for Israel” was breaking the Iran deal, Sheldon Adelson reportedly told Donald Trump, but the media can’t even mention Adelson’s interest in reporting his and his Israeli wife’s $75 million gift to a Trump super PAC in September.
The US ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, has campaigned for Donald Trump in the Middle East, saying a Joe Biden victory would be bad for Israel and Gulf States, in what appears to be a violation of the law saying federal employees must be nonpartisan. Though it’s hardly the first time Friedman has engaged in such actions.
Columbia undergraduates voted by 61 to 27 percent to divest from companies profiting from Israeli apartheid, and school president Lee Bollinger dismissed the vote as no guide for investment. Bollinger’s statement reminds Rashid Khalidi of what Trump said during the first debate, when he refused to say that he would respect the result of a democratic vote on November 3, thereby confirming his contempt for the democratic process.
Want to know why Joe Biden won’t say a critical word about Israel? Haim Saban, who just raised $4.5 million for Biden, repeatedly praised the “Jared [Kushner] plan” for peace in the Middle East today for being “outside the box.” Saban was at White House for the UAE/Israel/Bahrain deal announcement Sept. 15.
The Adelsons’ big late gifts to Republicans — up to $100 million — are gaining scrutiny. What’s their agenda? Crush the prospect of a Palestinian state. Get the U.S. to attack Iran. So far they’re batting .500.
