I Go to a Hip NY Party. Here’s What They’re Saying About Barack

I went to a hip party in New York tonight. Well hip to me anyway, I live in the sticks. People were talking about Obama.  To wit:

"Who do you think Obama’s favorite character on The Wire is?… Omar, the gay black gangster…"

"I went to a MoveOn rally in ’03 and heard Hillary speak and everything she said I was cheering for. Now I see her and that’s all gone. I feel like the 15 percent of them that was conniving and dirty, that’s all of them now, and the part that cared about actually changing things, that’s gone."

"I will vote for McCain before I vote for her. At least with McCain it will thoroughly discredit the Republicans and Obama can win next time. Where with her things will limp along for another 8 years and then the Republicans will get to come back in."

"Have you read his first book. It’s great. I feel like he’s a Jew. He talks about his confused identity the way a Jew would."

"Why do our politicians have to be made into our parents like they’re perfect. It’s so oedipal. We build them up, people are building Obama up and then they’re going to be disappointed."

"We are testing him. We are trying to find out if he is truly a great man."

He's got to stick to his message.

The message has multiple steps, that unfold over time in the campaign, and play out in real life.

The distinction that I think is relevant on foreign policy, is that the republicans and some war-enthusiast democrats respond to too many conflicts in the world with an almost habitual "all we have to bring to the situation is military force".

There is a certain truth to that, that we have neglected other approaches.

I think Obama has the personal mix of understandings, to know that force sometimes is necessary (even in anticipation at very very rare times), and that force is always known to be in the US' pocket so is never nowhere, but will NEVER be the first policy option and rarely the most prominent.

And that is a BIG change. It was not in Clinton's presidency that did do a "wag the dog" in bombing Sudan in 1998 (hitting an ambiguous and militarily barely necessary target) just as the Lewinsky scandal was grabbing the headlines.

I don't remember a satisfactory explanation to that.

  2. Hey, that next-to-last comment about setting him up as the perfect parent is similar to what I said in comments last week.

Ideas are like viruses, they spread, and they appear in multiple places at the same time. That one is probably pretty obvious to anybody who has spent time on a shrink's couch, or read Robert Bly. (I admit, I read Robert Bly on politicians a very long time ago. Don't sneer. He had some good ideas about projection and public figures)

The Party faithful are so predictable. They venerate their Next Big Thing, convince themselves how He's going to change the world, convince themselves that They're an integral part of it. Frat-boy conversations not unlike those eavesdropped by Phil above no doubt took place prior to Bush's election. But They always disappoint. Bush is now 20% approval, an utter Baby-Boomer F****-up, Obama ridicules middle America and degrades himself by pandering to a bunch of San Fran queens, Hillary is a cynical, craven, power-grasping cow, just like her chubby hubby…
People who put their faith in statist gods are just begging to get burned, and are perhaps even dumber than the goofs they like to ridicule. Do these people even realize how pathetic they are?

Behold the cryptic zionist embrace of Obama:
"I think Obama has the personal mix of understandings, to know that force sometimes is necessary (even in anticipation at very very rare times), and that force is always known to be in the US' pocket so is never nowhere, but will NEVER be the first policy option and rarely the most prominent."
Of course this about confronting Iran. And what is the objective? To get Iran to refrain from opposing Israel's actions against the Palestinians and the Lebanese, and last but not least to stop frustrating America's desire to control Iraq's oil wealth..
Obama will use the fist, but only when the velvet glove doesn't work…
Obama: Left in form, Right in essence..

  5. Instead of "I went to a hip party in New York tonight," you could have tried watching Jeremiah Wright's appearances on Bill Moyer, at the Detroit NAACP, and at the National Press Club, in full. I have all of the videos, complete, on my blog.

Who says all Jews have "confused identities"? Maybe Phil and those who hangs around have it, but most Jews I know don't have this problem.

Sometimes its hard to keep one's promise:

What a man, what a speech.

Poor Barack Obama, to have to dissociate from such a man:

You go outside of "hip" NY parties to I don't know actual swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio and the Black Jesus is having his problems. Please tell me that all you guys will leave the country when McCain wins. I think Iran would be a good destination since in the minds of the Phil Weiss fan base their the good guys in all this. Maybe hang with the boys in the Sunni Triangle.

any body know the name of the female moderator asking the rev wright questions at the national press club?

    Is hip the new classy?

From the sound of the quotes, that party sounds about as hip as grandma's bread pudding.

Consider the source, self-identified as "bar_kochba132."

Um, that's not exactly Mark Twain.

Kick this guy out of the USA.
