A Shooting Last Week at ‘Separation Fence’ Invokes ’48

A savage video of the shooting (allegedly last Friday) of a Palestinian youth while protesting the "separation fence" in the Occupied Territories– the weekly Bilin protest, near Ramallah. The young man is shot in the right thigh, a grievous wound, survived it according to the text here. Seems to have been a mostly peaceful protest. Though stones were thrown. Feels very South-Africa-like. Peter Voskamp sent it along because of the last image in the film, a kid running near the ambulance with a t-shirt that says 1948 in huge numerals on the back. This is, alas, living history. I reflect that at the AIPAC conference, many speakers mentioned Harry Truman recognizing Israel in '48, a decision opposed by his Secretary of State. It's been 60 years: Can our American generation at last merge these narratives, find justice, and turn the page? Just a thought.

    i just tried to watch the video of the boy being shot. apparently it isn't available anymore, but the caption is enough. a feeling washed over me. first of hope, yes, this IS like south africa and the truth will out. then anguish. because i see this kind of news and who else sees it? only a few. most are mourning tim russert. most regret this great newsman who would never ever deal with a story like this.

    Once again a little history might help you, Phil. The "8" in 1948 is blood red–a fairly sophisticated reference to what commander of Arab forces in Jaffa said about making the street "red with the blood of a million Jews."
    Thank G-d for men like that sharpshooter who protect the people of Israel.

Yes, you have won the media war so far in the US, but the rest of the world is not fooled. And people in the US are slowly but surely becoming aware of how much their collective future has been jeopardized by this so-called "state," whose behavior little better than the Medieval crusaders.

    Nice to see your comment– it just exposes to all of us how the supporters of Israel have lost all respect for the rest of humanity.

    Another 10 years and your ideology will be history like all the other -isms of the 20th century.

    think this is savage? i read an eyewitness report in Haaratz once about how the zionist border police would drive up to the fence of a refugee camp and scream curses thru a bullhorn. then when the kids ran over to throw rocks they would drop them with pot shots.

    Hey, Peter and Madrid,
    what do you think about the Palestinian suicide bombers that killed whole families using suicide bomb belts containing shrapnel dipped in rat poison ? The guys who did this are honored as great heroes by the official Palestinian Authority. Is that savage enough for you, or are they excused from being civilized according to your value system?

    A remarkable theory, no? — that criminal tendencies can be transmitted genetically. Thought that had been discredited long ago. But then, reviewing the three-generation criminal career of the Bush family, one finds the proposition all too credible.

    Maybe Bush ordered the Palestinian boy in the video shot. He can capture or kill anybody he wants to, anywhere. He said so in the 2003 State of the Union speech:

    As if his marital challenges were not enough cause for concern, "Sarco the Sayan" has suddenly emerged as the most infamous accolade of French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The influential French daily Le Figaro last week revealed that the French leader once worked for — and perhaps still does, it hinted — Israeli intelligence as a sayan (Hebrew for helper), one of the thousands of Jewish citizens of countries other than Israel who cooperate with the katsas (Mossad case-officers).

    INTERNET The PJ (Police Judiciere) investigates an electronic mail that was sent during the presidential election to one hundred top responsible of the police force. The email affirms that Sarkozy, like Balkany, Lellouche, Devedjian and Aeschlimann were connected to Mossad. Did a dispensary want to destabilize Nicolas Sarkozy during the presidential campaign? An inquiry entrusted to the Police Judiciere (Judiciary Police) must establish this. At the end of March, 2007, in the 'last right' of the election, all departmental managers of the Public Security, around one hundred senior civil servants, were sent a strange electronic mail. The future president was bluntly accused of having been recruited in 1980s by Mossad, the Israeli secret service.

    The sent text comes in the form of a “synthesis “ of two pages. Its title is: « The infiltration of the Israeli Mossad in the UMP. Nicolas Sarkozy: the fourth man. » Above, a pseudo-logo of the "DGSE". « All this smells heavily of manipulation, with reek from the extreme right », warns a senior executive in the ministry of the Interior.

    According to the author of the email, in 1978 the government of Menahem Begin ordered the infiltration of the Gaullist party to make a kind of partner of it for Israel. The operation was set up by Rafael Eytan, an Israeli spy-master. « Three French citizens predisposed to collaborate » would therefore have been targeted: Patrick Balkany, Patrick Devedjian and Pierre Lellouche. Balkany is introduced as the leader of "network".

    In 1983, Patrick Balkany would have recruited the "young and promising" Sarkozy, the « fourth man of the Mossad ». The fifth recruit came to complete the implement in the 1990s: Manuel Aeschlimann, deputy-mayor of Asnières (Hauts-de-Seines). The cyber-raven affirms that this one is close to Sarkozy « and is in charge of establishing contacts with Iranian representatives in France ». A proposition all the more perfidious as his city of Asnières really receives a strong Iranian community.

    Jim, nothing like German genes–the old anti-tuetonic saying is they make one grovel at one's feet, or go for one's throat. Strange, is this a paridigm only for Germans?

    When Truman ran against Dewey, he said didn't have to worry about any Arab-Americans; too, the Jews came to him and said they'd put all effort to Dewey if he didn't ASAP recognize Israel, and they told him he was akin to Cyrus The Great, and would so go down in history, not to mention he was loyal to his old business partner–the one who finally convinced him to see the Big Zionist—he had been choking on American-Jewish letters and the persistent arrogance of Zionists–he wrote the Jews were just standard types who, once they got on top, really stuck it to those beneath them….
