More evidence of Michelle Obama's sophistication: her high style. Tonight she was wearing a gorgeous off-white dress with a plunging back, cap sleeves and a gathered waist, looked like. This chick is hip and refined. The dinner table conversations in that house are highminded. It makes me even more irritated by the folksy salesmanship of last night, when she wore that suburban blue dress without a lot of style and tried to seem ordinary. Jacqueline Kennedy wasn't ordinary either.

    She is indeed lovely and quite an Amazon. I'm not totally sold on tonight's dress though, but I only saw the top part of it.

    Looked a bit fussy to me. I think we women who are larger than life have to stay away from the petite details and small prints that adorn tiny women.

    Still, so what. She's doing a great job of keeping it together under the intense media storm. If Barack wins, her life will be like this from now on – every frock and handbag examined, every word parsed, every accessory on her walls criticized. They want it, they're signing up for it.

    Do we have to make our rulers into superpeople? Whatever Michelle Obama is, or isn't, she's an just an average looking woman.

    I don't even know what hip means! I picture hip as someone who is in a wheelchair drooling on himself. Hip for the "younger" set could be heavy-rimmed horned glasses, a bad dye-job, with Chuck Taylor's and a ponytail added for men.

    Someone should compile a list of words to be striken from the English language, and put "hip" at the top of the list!
