Politico: Jewish Donors Appalled by Palin

Ben Smith reports what I've sensed: that Jews are not going to flock to a backwoods character like Sarah Palin. He says some donors are moving to Obama. Praise the lord, Smith isn't going in for the "Jewish voters" euphemism. There's a huge cultural divide to be
gotten over. Sarah went to college in Moscow, Idaho. At least Bush went to Yale. Matt Brooks of the Republican Jewish Coalition, who once (successfully) introduced Bush to Israel. says that it means everything that Palin has an Israeli flag in her office. So much for the dual loyalty canard!

What's wrong with going to college in Moscow, Idaho? Are you some sort of East-Coast Elitist? Abraham Lincoln had one year of formal schooling. FDR, it is true, went to Harvard, but he spent most of his time partying. Truman never went to college.
The smartest, most educated President of all-time was Herbert Hoover.

  2. Paul Easton, Bensonhurst, Brooklyn says:

Phil the wannabe ruling class elitist again. In Buddhism we call that the realm of the jealous gods. You should go live in say Fresno for a year and maybe you would discover America.

Its a good thing you dont have kids. They would be permanently stressed out by the pressure to get into Yale, or at least the Naval Academy.

I like Palen. She seems to be genuine and comfortable in her skin. If I watched TV and she were running for president I would be tempted to vote for her.

  3. David F. says:

I don't think Phil is criticizing Palin's college background.

However as a former student at an well known elite college, I can definitely attest that most elites can barely disguise their contempt for the unwashed masses who go to places like UI, Moscow.

Palin is simply not part of the elite social class–she's the hick who wandered into the Harvard Club and is making everyone very uncomfortable while they try to find a nice way to tell her to get lost.

    Its a question of capability.

I forgot to add that the most effective President from the viewpoint of passing progressive legislation and working with Congress in general was a graduate of Southwest Texas State Teacher's College-
    Lyndon B Johnson.

Well, Phil is a oroud Harvadian elitist. Actually messages like this may help her with the masses of voters.

Here is a neo-neocon supporter of Palin. I'll pick two of her Palin files at random, it seems her uncategorized is all about Palin lately. The lady reminds me of someone.

Think: media and soundbites and loyal soldiers, sticking to the message:

Sophia and Sarah separated at birth

Palin: playing the inexperience card is a loser for the Democrats

Now compare Pat Lang's eye on McCain's attractive though empty sound bites. For these strategies all you need is a soldier loyal to the message design:

    McCain speaks in slogans

bring back common sense….as uncommons as it is.

yeah those washingon overeducated genuises, where would we be without them?

and wallstreets supergenius financial engineers, their handiwork is unraveling before the eyes of the unbelieving world.

yeap, these guys are all educated beyond their ability to think.

  8. Todd says:

Jewish donors are applalled by Palin? Why should that matter to Phil? Isn't this site pretty much dedicated to the appalling actions of Jewish donors?

Phil is just being silly and bigoted in regards to Palin. She's just a veep candidate, and I'm far more suspect of McCain and Obama, anyway.

Just for arguments sake, would Palin do more damage to the elites than the elites have done to Middle America if she somehow became president? What would be the consequences for the nation if she managed to become president and damaged the elites?

I don't know much about Palin, but there is no genius or superior person of the four presidential and veep candidates from the major parties. And anyone who is falling for Obama's racial healer act has no room to question anyone's sophistication or ability to think deeply.

I think that Phil just makes the point that the nation needs to finally be allowed to divide peacefully. I don't know what group Phil thinks he's representing, but there is no reason that a large percentage of the population should be on the receiving end of his views. Maybe people like Phil are the reason that my region of the nation is awash in people fleeing the sophistication of the coasts?

Dear Phil, you need to be msm on these important subjects, we both know it wont happen here though you've got to get this discussion out there, Jews and non Jews alike need this discussion opened up for them. Can't you submit one of your pieces to the Guardian's blog spot, Comment is Free.
Most Jewish Americans don't want an Israeli flag in Palin's office, Both America and Jews alike are being Israelised without our consent.

  10. J says:

Harvard and Princeton are sort of like
the University of Idaho for those without
    Affirmative Action.

Would you really want to risk holding
Sarah's SAT's up against Michelle or Baracks
    (I bet not appreciably different).

You really are channeling Phillip Roth on this topic. To your type a life lived close to the earth making/building/doing is a wasted life.

  11. American says:

Jesus Phil…get over the elite thing. It makes you sound stupid.

One of my cousins went to Yale, graduated, came home and ran for the state senate mainly on a 'farmer's issue, a farm machinery title bill and got elected twice. Both my younger brothers went to Harvard and one of them is an idiot.

My oldest uncle dropped out of college and started a construction company in the 1900', when he died in 1955 he left an estate of 600 million which was a lot of money back then and left the bulk of it to charity.

If you've got what it takes the college you went to or lack of college makes no difference.

This obsession of yours with elitism is bound to be based in your childhood. Get over it, you aren't a child any longer. You're suppose to have learned something by now.
