I'm reading Lincoln to understand the occupation. This is going to be one of my ongoing themes, might as well tell you now, how Lincoln worked at himself over 3 decades to bring slavery down. No, the occupation isn't slavery, it is another species of evil, and we are as implicated in it as all the U.S. was in slavery in the 1800s. As a 21-year-old visiting New Orleans, Lincoln saw "a slave auction where a fine mulatto girl was being pinched and prodded and trotted up and down the room like a horse to show how she moved, that 'bidders might satisfy themselves'...of the soundness of the article to be sold... [His friend said,] 'Lincoln saw it; his heart bled; said nothing much, was silent. I can say, knowing it, that it was on this trip that he formed his opinion of slavery. It ran its iron into him then and there, May, 1831.'" (Abraham Lincoln, Lord Charnwood).
That was before youtube. Look at this video from B'tselem. It was taken 3 weeks ago in Jerusalem, and shows a helmeted Israeli soldier headbutting a Palestinian woman. Let my people go.
Thanks to Eva Smagacz for the link.

It should be "Women" not "Woman": first the lady in white headscarf is head butted by soldier in the helmet, and then, as she is coming towards camera, he does it again to the woman in the black headscarf….

I think your Lincoln-slavery perspective is powerfully relevant. Abolitionists were despised, assaulted and even murdered in the South as "nigger-lovers" – to protect the racism behind Confederate nationalism. The leaders of the southern states were so powerful politically (as are the leaders of the Jewish-American community) that even the carefully constructed government structure of the US could not rid itself of this evil after its destructive quality had become apparent. It took a cataclysm – the Civil War. The grip of Israeli colonial nationalism on our government invites a cataclysm, when Americans become fully cognizant of the maiming of our domestic and international interests at the hands of Israel and its political advocates in the US. My heart bleeds for Palestine…. she seems to be that doomed slave girl.
What? Jews as not victims, but the oppressors?
Gee, next thing you know people will actually start digging into
the socio-economic role of the diaspora jews throughout world history…
The only real negative mainstay is the nature of the goyhim masses and
their status and situation.
