Americans for Peace Now is one of the constituent organizations of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. The Conference of Presidents is basically a neocon outfit. Its leaders are hawkish and rightwing. It gave this fire-and-brimstone endorsement of the Gaza slaughter even as it began last month:
“The government and people of Israel have shown unprecedented restraint in the face of unyielding attacks with hundred of missiles and mortars fired on civilian targets by Hamas and other terrorist organizations who have made clear that their goal is the destruction of the State of Israel. No country could or would put up with this,” [Malcolm Hoenlein and another exec said]
Americans for Peace Now also stood with J Street as J Street questioned the slaughter. Americans for Peace Now should quit waffling. The time has come for APN to break with the Israel lobby over the killing of 460 children. It should have resigned from the board of the Conference of Presidents long ago, when the Conference was supporting the colonization of the West Bank that destroyed the two-state solution. By sticking with the Conference so long, Peace Now demonstrated ethnocentrism trumps principle. Well there are a lot of gentiles who are on the right side of this question. Peace Now should break with the Conference and get in with peaceloving groups. That would make a difference. (Phil Weiss)
well, I agree, CPMAJO are almost as bad as Morton Klein and ZOA. But what can you do, it's all incestuous. I mean, Gershom Gorenberg writes for the American Prospect and his co-blogger Haim Watzman (on South Jerusalem) writes for the Forward. That's incestuous, too, if on a smaller scale.
How about "non-Jews," instead of "Gentiles?"
And shouldn't APN instead demand that CPMAJO publish a minority statement condemning the slaughter, and urging Israel to refocus on peace. If CPMAJO articulates opposite positions, it will (1) empower non-Jews of good faith to take sides, and (2) help put an end to the thought control aspect of the Lobby, which is deeply un-American and anti-American.

Interesting idea. The word "goy" isn't well-known enough among non-Jewish citizens to have any effect, though. That's the beauty of it from the Zionist perspective, and is what Marlon Brando was getting at when he made his famous statements about Hollywood never showing the dark side of a Jewish person, while being all to happy to show the dark side of every other ethnicity.

But yes, I stand by my claim that more non-Jews than not don't know exactly what "goy" means. They may have some vague idea, and obviously some people do know it's precise meaning and how it's used, by I mean, come on – are you honestly trying to tell me the word has the same prevalence in
American society as "nigger" – it's not even comparable.
Maybe we should write some movies where it's used by groups of Jews. I'm sure they'll get funded in Hollywood…

It always takes a while for the officers to realize that the enlisted men working in the officer's mess have been pissing in their soup. As the enlisted soldiers become officers and the officers are demoted, the original officers learn the ropes. So it is with the derogatory terms. Not to worry. It's not stupidity. Just ignorance.
