In global media culture, Jimmy Carter’s doing just fine…

Yesterday I posted on the fact that Jimmy Carter's presidential ranking, per a group of august scholars retained by CNN, has plummeted in the last 9 years, I believe because he has been so engaged in Israel/Palestine. Well we live in a globalized world–Slumdog Millionaire–and my friend Yakov points out that some people like the great former president, for instance, Fareed Zakaria on his CNN program GPS yesterday:
ZAKARIA: Once again, last week's question garnered a huge response. And the
question was: Are there any political heroes left in this country or anywhere
else around the world?

One rule we stated at the outset was that you were
not allowed to vote for President Obama. The rule upset a few of you, some of
you because you thought it was presumptuous of me to assume you would write in
Obama, some because you couldn't think of anyone else.

Two members of the
U.S. Senate were essentially tied for third place, Democratic Senator Ted
Kennedy
and Republican Senator Arlen Specter. Both have many years under their
belt in the Capitol. Both are seasoned political warriors. And both,
coincidentally, are fighting battles against cancer.

Specter was often
named by you viewers along with fellow Republicans Olympia Snow and Susan
Collins
for being the only members of their party to vote for the fiscal
stimulus.

In second place, an answer we originally thought might get the
gold medal, the answer "no one."

The winner, President Jimmy Carter,
edging out all other presidents, congresspeople, Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu
Kyi
and lots more.

Funny, scholars picked differently than the typical CNN viewer. Liberal views match with ignorance, the winner – Jimmy Carter.

Jimmy Carter IS a hero because he is more interested in the truth than being popular. Sadly, "conventional wisdom" still pegs him as a failure. A recent opinion piece in the Christian Science Monitor titled "Stop Picking on Jimmy Carter" listed his accomplishments, including the ladmark peace treaty between Egypt and Israel, and the handing over of the Panama Canal to the Panamanians, thereby heading off anti-American violence in Central America, appealing to Americans to embrace alternative energy reserach…the list goes on. Look into it.

    I agree with K.R.
Who else has given the world peace between Israel and some Arab nations? Who else has given us
Habitat For Humanity, and his books carrying on the principles of Nuremberg, the Hague, etc?

Nobody. No other USA prez comes even close. But he's smeared for his Christian morality and courage
to call a spade a spade. I haven't seen anyone rubber tiring anyone, and lighting a kerosene match to that one, claiming to support Carter's vision–have you?

He was smeared when he was caught lying for Saudi money.
