Memo to Alan Dershowitz

You didn't like Jimmy Carter's book. You challenged him to a debate.
But he was afraid of you, and ran, and at Brandeis referred to you as a "Harvard professor." As if you were a pischer!
But you got back at him, you knocked him out of the Democratic convention in Denver!
You were angered by Walt and Mearsheimer's book. You challenged them to a debate. You said: I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me I'm disloyal to my country!
But those ivory-tower schmendricks gave you the high hat!
And at Cooper Union in your native city John Mearsheimer with his fancy pants Jewish publisher read aloud from one of your books, where you talk about the Israel lobby being the most powerful lobby in "the history of democracy."
He calls himself a realist but he wouldn't look you in the eyes!
You hate the Hampshire divestment that was pushed through by those leftwing students in dreadlocks and lip-piercings. Your own son went to Hampshire! You called them on their cellphones just to talk about it and they had the gall to hang up on you!
Are they afraid of you too? Maybe. But they talk about you on their website. They hint you were threatening them! They dis you publicly!
Can they even stand up for their actions??
Challenge them to a debate!!!!
I don't think those students can turn you down. Alan, this is your opportunity to stop the divestment movement in its tracks!

Yeah, let's look again at what Phil noted about two & half years ago on this blog:

I was reading Alan Dershowitz's autobiography, Chutzpah, the other night when I came to some lines on page 16 that I found shocking:

My generaton of Jews was too young to fight against Nazism or for Israeli independence, too American to make aliyah (emigrate to Israel), too comfortable to put our bodies on the line for anything Jewish. Instead, we observed, contributed… We became part of what is perhaps the most effective lobbying and fund-raising effort in the history of democracy.

Not just any lobby, but one devoted to a foreign state's whims. When will it be re-registered as a foreign agent? And the public put on notice. The Lobby screens our governmental reps and policy-makers. It writes Congress's foreign policy directives.

It has hijacked US interests in behalf of a foreign state. And you pay.

  2. lurker says:

The rational, sensitive, humane Richard Witty likes it that way. Dersh's self-profile fits Dick Witty perfectly.

  3. Rowan says:

It just struck me that Phil (like the rest of us intransigeants) will eventually have to cope with the implications of the fact that the factions of the US and UK ruling classes that actually support our anti-Israel agitation, do so because they want us to do the dirty work of undermining the myth of Jewish exceptionalism, so that after the dust has settled they can sweep in and say they were always more broad-minded and tolerant than us, and that is why they should remain world rulers, with their usual liberal imperialist cant.

from the man who called the Palestinians "cockroaches". Don't dignify his with one's presence.

I think its a great idea. But I don't think the Hampshire students have the balls.

  7. samuelburke says:

oh if only americans knew how the interests of the shitty little country in the middle east has caused their nation so much harm.

shhhhh lets not let those americans find out.

the financial crisis is the thing wherein we'll catch the king.

  8. Sword of Gideonthe point. says:

Phil, your in touch with these students, Ask them to debate Dershowitz in a neutral setting. I think its a great idea. But i don't think your boys have the nerve, the intelligence, or the balls. What say you?

  9. LD says:

Phil already said he wants them to debate.

This is twice you've said that the students 'dont have the balls'. Getting nervous, douchebag?

Alan Dershowitz is a fucking moron. He was demolished by Finkelstein and Chomsky.

His ONLY weapon is his obnoxious loud-mouthed diversionary tactics. Like the 'planet Chomsky' line he used during the Chomsky debate. Dershowitz is a fucking clown and the ONLY people who take him serious are morally unserious people like yourself and every other Zionist pig.

  10. Rowan says:

Jacobson is one of those anglo jewish light novelists who write fringe porn fiction.

  11. LeaNder says:

think your boys have the nerve, the intelligence, or the balls.

Don't be too sure about that, Bill. I'll bet they have all the above qualities and as I assume they are well prepared. They didn't start thinking about these matters a couple of weeks ago.

The question is, does he have the qualities you demand. And aren't students a bit beneath him communicatively? You know, no fellow profs or former presidents. He may prefer to sent his student research assistants. [That's how I read his psyche at this point] Students are something one communicates with in camera, you know. ;)

  12. Chris Berel says:

It seems that Dershowitz only debates his equals, or in the case of Carter, those who think they are his betters. Debating the students is like debating Rowan orJoachim, like shooting fish in a barrel.

  13. MM says:

Killer post. Dersh can decide if he wants to be a serious intellectual or a Ziolobby knee-capper. Both ain't happening.

  14. LanceThruster says:

I love the idea. I hope if it comes to pass that appropriate grounds rules are established. The last time I heard Dershowitz in any sort of debate (some guest appearance the BBC broadcast), he shouted down the opposing view, hardly letting him get a word in edgewise. Make sure Alan is required to save his rebuttals for his turn rather than trying to drown out the points he is uncomfortable with.

  15. MM says:

Somewhere, an innocent ruling class, Jewish john is under attack.

The selfishness of these Hampshire students, making Dersh take time away from his pro-bono work on behalf of the injustices and misunderstandings that oppress ruling class men.

I mean, you gotta be on Planet Constitution to think the law is something to be applied equally to all.

  16. tommy says:

Without offices full of grad students doing the research and other heavy academic lifting, Dershowitz cannot perform his legal and public policy persona.

  17. 5 dancing shlomos says:

LD is right. dershwitless is a moron and clown and a mediocre lawyer. he is kept out of court because he loses. only cardboard actors and jewish loons take him seriously. he has his position at harvard and he gets face/mouth time because he is an israeli. if not, he is cleaning manure ponds at MA pig factories or he is at home with his mommy.

  18. Suzanne says:

I would LOVE to see this debate. Firing Line style. Dersh will mop the floor with them and we can watch it over and over on youtube! Yeah!

Dershowitz has an email address at Harvard. Contact him!

  20. Doppler says:

I'm all for free and open debate, truth's sure defenders. One rule: no personal attacks, and a moderator to interrupt and disallow. Without personal attacks, Dershowitz is a bit like Rahm Emanuel when he lost his middle finger (according to an Obama roast) – rendered nearly speechless. Let's see, he accuses people of Anti-Semitism, directly, or by questioning – why would you single out Israel from all nations that have imperfections, what is your true motive in criticizing the one place in all the world where Jews are not a tiny minority? He accuses them of poor research and writing, the kind an undergraduate would get a D or F for. He accuses them of being unoriginal. He accuses them of being naive. He also uses straw men: so, you believe Hamas should be glorified, or that the Holocaust did not occur? All are efforts to deflect attention from abusive, criminal behavior that his client has decided to engage in. All are excuses for not facing the truth about Israel's abuse and oppression of the Palestinians. It is hard to admit that your side slaughtered 400 children, using phosphorus against civilians, and blames them for it, but that is the reality.

  21. Chris Berel says:

No reason to admit what is not true. Israel did not slaughter 400 children. Israel used phosphorus in a legal manner.

  22. MM says:

Very convincing, chris. Why would we believe our lying eyes over your well-known awareness and neutrality?

  23. Julian says:

Didn't Israel kill 10,000 Palestinians in Jenin?

  24. MM says:

Didn't Israel steal Palestine by bribing the British?

  25. Eva Smagacz says:

Israeli killed "only" 50-56 Palestinians in Jenin.

Exact numbers are hazy, as the media was not allowed and place was sealed to non military personnel for few days afterwards.

Oral histories suggest much higher number, but independent forensic examination of the camp was not allowed as Israeli barred the UN delegation that wanted to examine the place. IDF moved some dead bodies out of camp and stopped removing bodies only after Supreme Court ordered them to stop.

  26. Sword of Gideonthe point. says:

Killed a lot less than the typical Polack in WW2 Eva. And I ask again, what was your family doing in Jedwebne and kielce

  27. Todd says:

Eva, would you please answer SOG's question about your family and Jedwebne? I want to see what's next in his arsenal.

  28. chris berel says:

Because you're lying about what you saw
Try something harder next time. Phil's phools are so simple.

  29. MM says:

Thus spake chris "shooting fish in a" berel, zionist asshat with nothing better to do than lecture "Phil's phools" (how long'd it take ya to think that up, fish berel?)

  30. From-Topeka says:

I have noticed how few American jews are protecting and harboring innocent palestinians, and even supporting American x-GIs in their host land who recoiled against their orders while in the middle east. I also noticed
how little American jews have supported the IDF vets who have protested what their nation is doing.

What a bunch of hypocrites, those American jews. Phil is an exception obviously. Like the White Rose in
Nazi Germany. Goldhagen's thesis would have it that all American jews are criminals.
