Mustafa Barghouti, star of ’60 Minutes,’ to speak at Columbia on Thursday

Palestinian politician Mustafa Barghouti was the star of the recent Bob Simon report on "60 Minutes" on the death of the two-state solution in Israel/Palestine. This Thursday afternoon he will be at Columbia University, speaking to the Arab Students Association, his only public speaking appearance in New York. The press release:

Dr. Mustafa Barghouti was elected to the Palestinian Legislative
Council in January 2006, and served as Minister of Information in the
short-lived Palestinian unity government of 2007. In 2005, he was a
candidate for President of the Palestinian National Authority,
finishing second to Mahmoud Abbas.

Dr. Barghouti is also head of the Palestinian Medical Relief
Committees, which, after waiting 12 days for Israeli permissions,
managed to get only one convoy of aid to Gaza. 70 members of the
relief committee are helping to train volunteers in first aid and
operating two ambulances and two mobile clinics in Gaza.
