Here's a report that the deputy commander of ground troops in Gaza cancelled a tour of England that was to include 20 speaking engagements, apparently at Aish haTorah (the religious revival group associated with the "Obsession" DVD that bedevilled our campaign last fall). The colonel feared arrest.
Colonel Geva Rapp was understood to have fled back to Israel fearing a
citizens’ arrest for war crimes during his visit to Britain which was
aimed to defend the slaughter of more than 1,300 Palestinians in Gaza
to members of the country’s estimated 270,000 Jewish community.
“Due to the negative security situation and increasing risk that
was steadily brewing around Colonel Geva Rapps' visit to the UK, our
guest has asked us to cancel all further speaking engagements,” said
Rabbi Naftali Schiff, executive director of Aish UK educational
organisation.

As to the main post. I am absolutely shocked that a Jew would avoid a place where he would be subject to false arrest. I mean, what innocent person wouldn't want to be arrested and hauled up in front of a court in a foreign country to face bogus, trumped up charges? Who doesn't enjoy spending months or years in jail in a foreign country awaiting a trial on vague and specious charges in front of a jury that probably has no idea that it is possible for civilians to die in a war without it being a war crime?
As for Dickerson: if you want to say something, say it yourself. Knock off the posts that are 90%-100% pastes from other places. Do your own homework, don't plagiarize from the other children.

Over 10,000 Palestinians are still imprisoned by Israel, including women and children (360 children as of 2007), some detainees have been in jail over ten years.
It appears Israel may one day become the only safe place for Israeli war criminals as the rest of the world is starting to have their fill of it.

The article you pasted says that the LEHI approached the Nazis, not that Shamir had anything to do with the proposal.
The LEHI were a fringe group opposed by the Jewish leadership at the time. They apparently thought that the Nazis would be willing to see the Jews gone from Europe rather than kill them. They were wrong. Just as the people who think Hamas wants Jews gone from the West Bank, Gaza, and Israel are wrong.
