Kohr acknowledges the elephant in the convention center: Israel’s delegitimization

3 memorable  moments at policy conference so far:
–Jane Harman's outburst this morning, declaring that she was going to "waddle in" on a discussion of her wiretap. I'll have a transcript a little later. Funny, nutty, dug in. And in for a long fight. Entertaining, tough. And completely unbelievable.
–Executive director Howard Kohr's address a few minutes ago about the delegitimization of Israel worldwide. Spirited, and honest. I'd been looking all day for signs of the awareness of the intellectual/political sea change that is undermining support for Israel. Kohr was upfront about this. And of course said that the group before him is the "firewall" on the only jury that really matters on Israel, Washington.
–Michael Oren also spoke, on a panel about Jordan and Egypt. His confirmation as the next ambassador from Israel to the U.S. was reported earlier today and Oren was gracious about it. Said it wasn't final. Spoke well on a historical subject. And ducked the one provocative question, someone saying There's no such thing as Palestinians. Jews are Palestinians. Etc. Oren said this was not the case. Seemed to be some official Israeli types surrounding him already.
