Netanyahu: meeting was all about Iran, and Obama’s committed

Haaretz says that Netanyahu is walking away from his visit with Obama saying he got a win:

On Iran, a senior Israeli official said the premier
was also pleased with the outcome of the visit: Obama set a deadline -
the end of the year – for his proposed dialogue with Iran, and
Netanyahu did not promise that Israel would refrain from taking action
against Iran on its own. Instead, the official said, Netanyahu stressed
that Israel reserves the right to defend itself.

However, he also said that Israel has not yet made any decision on military action against Iran.

On the settlements, no agreements were reached, but the two leaders
agreed to set up working groups on this issue, as well as on Iran and
normalization with the Arab world. Netanyahu returned to Israel last
night….

Meanwhile, Vice Prime Minister Silvan Shalom reiterated yesterday
that Netanyahu's government does not intend to establish new
settlements, but will accommodate "natural growth" in existing
settlements.

With regard to Iran's nuclear program, Shalom said he was pleased
by the outcome of the Obama-Netanyahu meeting. "It's now clear that the
Americans will act, though we don't know how," he said.

My question for my president: What do Larry Summers, Rahm Emanuel, and David Axelrod say? Where are the powerful Jews in your administration?

Reading diplomatic-speak is like reading tea leaves. The real discourse went on behind closed doors, and in the preparation leading up to the meeting–and we don't really know what was said about that. And just because Netanyahu boasts that things went well doesn't mean squat–it's for Israeli domestic political consumption. What was he supposed to say? That Obama despises him and his policies? My feeling/guess is this: Obama told Netanyahu that the US would not support any military action against Iran. Period. And that it is in the US national interests for a two-state solution–soon. The only operative question in my mind is what the US plans to do when Israel disregards all of this.

^People like you make me wish there was a hell. Agree with pineywood. Don't trust a word out of Netanyahu's mouth. The President is a diplomat, but at the end of the day he knows what needs to be done and will work towards doing it, with or without Netanhyahu's help.

Countdown to Armageddon has begun. Thank you Jewish Zionists. Keep peddling the Holocaust Industry to the ignorant goyim.

Of course he got a win. You reported about it yourself. Methinks the meeting was all and only about that; Iran was just a red herring. Now Obama has committed himself and his administration to the 'Jewish State' principle, a recipe for total failure of his Mideast policy if ever there was one. It also means that Mitchell may have already thrown in the towel. The prospects seem very grim to me.
