There were also a couple of local speakers who made very short talks. One is a young man whose mother lives in Gaza and works for UNRWA. She is diabetic and cannot get insulin. The other is a doctor who has traveled across the Atlantic, journeyed to Egypt, waited at the border six (I think he said six) times for a couple weeks each, trying to get in to see his blind mother, now in her late 80s. He nearly wept as he told of traveling so far, and so often, then being less than 20 miles from his mother, but not permitted to see her. He is going with Mr. Galloway's convoy this month. I pray he and all of them get in, that the supplies get in. It's truly a historic mission. One day we'll look back on this and marvel at Galloway's commitment to social justice at a time when so much of the world "passed by on the other side." (Luke 10:25-37)

Al-Jazeera is the best, best, best news channel there is. I'm heartened that its run by the former editor-in-chief of the CBC because he is old enough, it appears, to have been present when the CBC was a grade-A operation, and not subject as it is know to the same forces as the media here.

CBC is vile. I cringe to watch them, knowing my mind is being subtly massaged to accept a load of bull, telling myself, Be strong! Don't let them curdle your mind. Galloway came down to Houston to raise money and to encourage people to go with he delegation. Many are going and many raised money after he left through different fundraisers and other small efforts. I'm not sure how much Houston raised altogether, but the Palestinians community presence here is pretty strong. Galloway is an awesome speaker. Listening to him in person was inspiring and moving. I wept when he described seeing a young boy, victim of a phosphorous attack in the recent assault on Gaza, for whom the doctors could do nothing, as he lay on the hospital bed, with smoke coming out from his nostrils and his ears–he was literally being cooked alive from the inside. He had inhaled a large amount of phosphorous smoke. Galloway said he turned away, he couldn't bring himself to look at him, and he just wasn’t' strong enough to face the boy…. I cry, even now, as I think about it.
Continued: In Houston, he was scathing of the Muslim and Arab government response to the Gazza massacre, to thunderous applause and shouts of Allahu Akbar, from the largely Arab/Muslim audience. He told how a 10 year-old orphaned girl, who lost all extended family as well, asked him, 'Where is the Arab nation that we read about in school? Where is the Muslim brotherhood that we are taught about in school? "He told of how when his caravan was passing through the different Muslim countries, people would run up to them and the women would throw their wedding rings at them, and tell them to sell it and use it to buy whatever the Gazans need. He told of how an old man begged him to take him along with him and when Galloway said they don't have space, he cried, and said to tell Gazans, "When they cry, we cry, too. When they bleed, our hearts bleed." (By the way, Galloway is quite funny. His many jokes made us all laugh as well.)

At the very least those historical events, all reeking in the atmosphere of the times, certainly went a long way towards answering why many western europeans were indifferent towards what was slowly happening to the Jews. There's been so many books written about that indifference and/or minor to major complicity yet none I've read cover in any depth, if at all, those historical events. And few typical history books connect those dots.

To my knowledge, Al-Jazeera is available on cable now in Washington Dc, and three other locals in the USA. This is all very recent. If memory serves the other three locals are all mid-western, e.g., Toledo, Ohio. I will call my cable company.
There are a number of US senate vids. I just looked at some of them, and Too bad we don't have his like. Well, we do have Kucinich and Paul, but Galloway makes them seem asleep in terms of delivery of message. I'd love to see Galloway all over USA MSM TV news. He'd knock everybody's socks off. He makes 99% of our congressmen look like obtuse, callow fellows and ladies.

well al-jazeera is carried by the local cable access channel here in burlington vermont interestingly enough a small but vocal group of you-know-who tried to have it removed but failed after a strong public outcry now in what i believe is an end-run comcast is going after this 17 year old local access channel using what i believe to be subterfuge in order to bring it down they are threatening their financing [which comes out of everyones cable bill] don't think it's going to work though [hope it don't]

I'm going to be checking for the source myself but just because you've been unable to confirm it yet (assuming you're really trying, Thom) doesn't mean that it's not authentic. (Proving a negative is not easy.) But there's no question that Einstein was VERY alarmed about the direction that Zionism was going in.
