A Palestinian state is fine just so long as the Palestinians don’t declare it

Threat in the JPost: ‘The Palestinian Water Authority wouldn’t last a day on its own’

Threats from U.S. senators, in Haaretz:

U.S. senators visiting Israel, meanwhile, said on Monday that the United States would veto a Palestinian declaration of statehood in the UN Security Council.

They said the threat by Palestinian officials to take the issue to a United Nations resolution was a waste of time and would go nowhere. They urged Arab states to stop it.

"It would be D.O.A. – dead on arrival," Democratic Party Senator Ted Kaufman (DE) told a news conference in Jerusalem. "It’s a waste of time."

Senator Joseph Lieberman (CT), an independent, said "an essentially unilateral" declaration of statehood was the one thing that would not move the stalled peace process forward."
By the way, Almanac of American Politics says Kaufman’s Catholic.

  1. This is the third quote of the same comments.

How does the quotes in your post relate to the headline?

I think the timing is off. Better to wait until the PA is ready, and Palestinian statehood is undeniable.

But, of course the cadre hear prefer to describe Fatah as corrupt and devoid of accomplishment, in their effort (literally effort) to keep Palestine from becoming viable.

    Its tragic.

The Israelis think they are forcing the Palestinians into agreeing to the Bantustan, but I suspect that what they will get instead is the demand for the binational state.

Someone should inform Israel that without America’s constant multi-billion dollar injections, Israel would collapse faster than you can say “delusions of grandeur”.

The sad thing about the Palestinian water authority is that they are responsible for dispensing Palestinian ground water, that is given to them by Israel, that is in fact water that belongs to the Palestinians in the first place. This is part of the big thievery that Israel commits daily in their move to steal more and more WB land and resources. It is so true if the Palestinians defy Israeli rules then the Israelis will steal even more of their land and resources. This is so evil. I cannot believe that I supported Israel for so many years. I really did believe at one point that the “Arabs” were being unreasonable.

I sometime can’t believe that the US is so corrupt as to be supporting it now.

Every time Israel ups the Evilmeter and commits an act even more heinous than before, a small thought arises despite my knowing better – Maybe this time they’ll object, maybe this time they won’t support this.

And then they always do. Every. Single. Time.
