I gather the NYT goes behind a paywall tomorrow. Well this is still free, Ethan Bronner’s piece on a Knesset hearing about J Street 3 days ago, in which he suggests, maybe unconsciously, that criticism of Israel from Jews abroad endangers Israeli lives.
JERUSALEM — On one side were members of the Israeli Parliament and advocates who argued that there was only one legitimate way to support Israel
Bronner is in the West Jerusalem bubble. Note that his piece nowhere mentions the killings of four civilians by Israeli mortar fire 2 days before in Gaza– those presumably are his “tensions”–while it specifically cites the killing of the woman in Jerusalem by package bomb and the killings of five members of that settler family in Itamar.
By the way, I gather that when Bronner spoke at the 92d Street Y in New York recently, he was hissed at one point as being too critical of Israel. Shows how screwed-up the American Jewish community is.
