3 weeks after Yale shuts down anti-Semitism center, it starts another one

I believe this is all about funding, and a university’s willingness to cash checks. Just three weeks after Yale killed an embarrassingly-ideological center for the study of anti-Semitism, it has set up another one. You would think that professors could teach the history of anti-Semitism without having to have an anti-Semitism shop. From the JTA:

Yale University is launching a new program for the study of anti-Semitism, the school’s provost said in a statement.

Monday’s announcement by Peter Salovey of the creation of the Yale Program for the Study of Anti-Semitism comes less than three weeks after the university said the Yale Interdisciplinary Initiative for the Study of Anti-Semitism would be disbanded at the end of the summer for failing to promote sufficient research and instruction opportunities.

Oh and this is from the ADL’s Abe Foxman, welcoming the move:

We are satisfied that Yale University understood the critical importance of continuing an institute for the study and research of anti-Semitism.  We believe the administration understands the importance of this subject, and its continued situation at Yale.
