Obama campaign believes that many U.S. Jews are not aware of the depth of President Obama's support for Israel...
An Obama campaign activist thinks that the campaign must publicize Obama's record on Israel in order to make the Jewish community - where Obama's approval rating is still around 60% - less uncomfortable about his candidacy, after the Washington-Jerusalem rifts over the past two years.
"I have found time and again when people come to me and ask - and I explain [Obama's] record of support with regard to Israel, his record of military cooperation and assistance - and doing everything possible to prevent a nuclear Iran, people say: 'Gee, I didn't know that'," said a "Haaretz" source involved in the campaign who also worked closely on Obama's 2008 campaign. "I believe that the most important thing the campaign needs to do - especially in the Jewish community - is to get the record out, and the record is a superb one."
"One expert on the Middle East said to me about a month ago that this a president who's done more than the other presidents for Israel and got the least credit for it.

You very frequently attribute pressure, greed and coercion to what are otherwise sincere convictions.
I’m not sure why you are so distrustful of individuals’ integrity.
Derfner, Obama, all in a week.
Derfner I can see you sticking up for–I think the evidence actually supports your view of his motives. Obama–this is hilarious. He’s a politician. Talking about his “integrity” is something I’d expect from someone who lives in a dreamworld. Oh, wait…
Obama has made Progressives completely politically powerless by lying to get our votes, then breaking pretty much every single promise he made to us.
OF COURSE Witty supports Obama. Not a huge shocker here.
Lying about what Chaos? I am pretty sure the majority of progressives would question what you are saying, unless of course they are putting another country or entities interests above that of the US.
Universal health care, closing Guantanamo Bay, pulling out of Iraq, instituting campaign reform, environmental policies, “change you can believe in,” putting a stop to discrimination against homosexuals, preserving women’s rights, improving soldiers/veterans funding, stopping corrupt Defense Department spending…
Obama is expressing his views on Israel consistently from day 1.
Mutual health. I’m certain that he is more than frustrated with Netanyahu’s administration, and communication.
But, he has backbone, so he weighs his priorities and concludes that support for Israeli and civilians’ security is an important consideration.
If there were prominent articulated alternative proposals within the mainstream, then I expect that he would consider them prominently.
The popular political discourse on Israel/Palestine is polar though.
Dissenters here don’t support Fayyad and Abbas, they condemn them. There is no effort for a meeting of the minds.
You have a responsibility too. Go further.

Obama believes in “mutual health”. But Netanyahu’s administration and communication frustrate him. So Obama weighs his priorities…and concludes that support for Israeli and civilians’ is more important than support for Israeli AND Palestinian civilians’ security.
And this qualifies as “backbone”. Interesting.
Witty:
Did you is able to pass grade school englishs classed? Would you is willingness tooo provided yourez high school diplomaed 2?
This is meaningless and it’s not an effective sentence. It could hypothetically serve as a great section heading but I have never seen you write anything even remotely well organized enough to encompass a technique such as separating arguments into sections.
He has backbone? What does this mean? Based on what? How he’s given in on every single one of his campaign promises? How he’s started negotiations on some issues with a position that’s to the right of Republicans?
He weighs his priorities? Like reelection? Tell me, what are Barack Obama’s priorities? I thought he was in office due to being elected by the citizens of this country. His duty is to follow the law, facilitate the enforcement of the law and to protect the constitution. Is Israel in the US Constitution?
What does the oblique phrase “Israeli and civilians’” mean? Did you mean “Israeli civilians?” Or were you trying to refer to Israeli and all other (i.e., including Palestinian) civilians also? We all know you’re not a Jewish-supremacist so you couldn’t have possibly only been talking about the security of Israeli civilians, right?
This is possibly the silliest sentence I have ever read. Articulated alternative proposals in the mainstream!! They’d be considered prominently! Huh?
In this context I assume “articulated,” means “expressed.” “Alternative” must just mean “different.” “Proposal” has to mean “idea.” “Mainstream” to you just means “acceptable.” “Prominently” is used improperly here, so we’ll say you meant “seriously” or “taken seriously.”
Put it together:
“If there were different acceptable ideas expressed Obama would have taken them seriously.”
Yep, still a remarkably stupid sentence. Must be the idea behind it (or the author) that’s lacking.
LOL!
“The popular discourse on raising taxes in the United States is polar though.”
Wow, how enlightening.
Have you responded to my posts on the woodshed thread? You have a responsibility, too. Go further.
Witty, answer me this: Does Obama demand that Israel put a stop to new settlement activity?
A feckless political coward such as Obama can’t do enough for Israel. Despite a couple of tepidly critical gaffs about the settlement issue, Obama has been more than willing to…
Ignore Israel’s crimes on the high seas.
Ignore Israel’s crimes during Operation Cast Lead.
Assist in the marginalization of the Goldstone Report.
Echo Israel’s disingenuous spew about Iran’s nuclear pursuits.
Ignore the murder and maiming of AMERICAN CITIZENS engaged in peaceful protest.
Appoint ass kissing zionist sympathizers to key foreign policy postings and positions.
Ignore Netanyahu’s despicable arrogance and disrespect for the office of the President Of The United States.
From his promising first utterings, to a spineless cowering embarrassment in record time. His head is so far up Netanyahu’s ass that I expect Bibi’s head is going to expand past its already gigantic proportions.
False. All americans are keenly aware that Bo desperately wants a second term. You choose to see everything in terms of IP situation when in fact it is only one facet. Not to mention even if he were openly hostile, congress would step in and make sure we did right by Israel, because that’s what the vast majority of Americans want. Therefore his position on Israel is not critical to his reelection.
The economy looms much larger a reason he won’t be reelected. Perry Bachman ticket will deliver the bow shot to the ME that has been sorely lacking. War spending is good for economic growth. We need a biggie. Look for it, to be sure. It will not be a good time to be our enemy, be you foreign or domestic. Take heed!
That’s because Obama has been the most humliated and undermined when it comes to Israel.
False. It’s not what Americans want. Most Americans don’t want a cent going to foreign countries. It’s what the Israeli Lobby wants.
Tell that to the AIPAC delegates who are predicting Obama wil be a one term president.
Indeed, so they try to make up for it by competign over who loves Israel the most. It was reported that Mitt Romney believes he is at a disadvantage against Bachman becasue of the perception that she might be Jewish.
I think I prefer Obama. In a nutshell, we can choose between arthritis and cancer.
Obama started modestly, but smartly: if the question is asked directly, big majority of Americans oppose expansion of settlement. It is not that Americans have such a degree of empathy for the oppressed etc. but the idea that Israel HAS TO EXPAND SETTLEMENTS is so weird that (according to the poll I have read) even majority of GOP voters does not get it.
And then he folded. Perhaps it was a sober realization that sanity is not a winner. Now Americans and Mariana Islanders are sad and unconvincing parrots of Israeli positions,
The hope is that GOP ticket will collapse under the weight of its insanity. Perry failed his voters in Texas because he incompetently organized mass prayers for rain: there is still no rain! And he more or less threatened the life of Bernanke who is Jewish.
No, there aren’t JUST two choices. Your choices aren’t “Have your eyes poked out” Republican or “Let that gangrene fester until you have to amputate” Democrat.
I think this is the best proof that US Democracy is clinically DEAD at this point. People think the only choices are vanilla and swirl softserve and they aren’t even WILLING to look at the row of frozen yogurt machines behind the obsolete, wonky ice cream machine.
>> Perry failed his voters in Texas because he incompetently organized mass prayers for rain: there is still no rain!
Perry didn’t fail his voters – his voters’ lack of faith in gawd fall them all. The on-going drought is gawd being mad. Had they found a way to make gawd sad instead of angry, he would have cried and then his tears would have fallen from the skies in gentle showers.
Amen. :-)
