Here is further evidence that in the wake of the U.S. opposition to Palestinian statehood, the world is forcing America out of the cockpit of the conflict. The New York Times's Robert Mackey picks up a German report that the Germans will back out of its commitment to help pay for an Israeli submarine because the Germans are enraged by Israel's determination to expand the Gilo settlement in East Jerusalem.
Remember that Netanyahu lectured Angela Merkel when she presumed to criticize him on the matter a month or so back, because he thought he could get away with it. Remember that Turkish P.M. Erdogan declared Israel the west's "spoiled child" (giving me my headline).
So: Israel's isolation continues, and so does American isolation.
