U.S.-made teargas canisters, Tahrir Square, Nov. 20, by Maggie Osama

Tahrir, Nov. 20, KuwaitNews
Egyptian forces have used U.S.-made teargas against peaceful protesters--CSI gas, made by Combined Systems Inc., in the U.S. These photos show as much, and Salon reports: "Egypt uses U.S. teargas on pro-democracy crowds...By Avi Asher-Schapiro":
This is not the first time CSI ‘s products have been used against Egyptian citizens. During Egypt’s January revolution, CSI tear gas was employed by the Mubarak regime against demonstrators in Tahrir Square.
Once again, a mainstream reporter fails to connect repression in one part of the Middle East w/repression of Palestinians.
Adalah-NY documented Israel's use of CSI gas in Palestine against peaceful protesters, specifically in Bil'in, with lethal consequences. And it showed that CSI's HQ in Jamestown, PA flies an Israeli flag. Adalah also connected its use in Palestine to Egypt and Tunisia, in this op-ed piece and in this press release.

Their company colors are blue and white and that can screams Israeli flag with those blue stripes.
An Israeli company located in the US who provides riot control gear to police and the military (who in some cases are trained in Israel or by Israelis). The US government buys the riot aid and sends it to Egypt and Israel as part of their 1.3 bil and 3 bil Camp David aid packages:

” in 2007 and 2008, the US State Department provided $1.85 million worth of “tear gasses and riot control agents” to Israel as part of the US’s $3 billion in annual military aid to Israel” Egypt isn’t mentioned, but I’m sure they did the same thing.
Superficially, it appears that the US is investing in its own economy and then giving it as part of their foreign aid. But Israel, the master scam artist, figured out how to get the most bang for their buck and make sure that money still flows their way
how’s this for fun..their URL is link to less-lethal.com
LOL! Less lethal is still lethal. Just like somebody bleeding less is still bleeding. Less frivolous spending still means there is frivolous spending.
PS – their website design makes it look like a big Israel flag
speaking of flags did you see this photo of the exterior of CSI’s plant in Jamestown? both american and isreali flags.

i vaguely recall reading somewhere the owner was a dual citizen but i can’t recall if it was this company or another defense industry company. something about a portion of their ‘aid’ having to be spent in the US so dual citizens set up business here to keep the money ‘in house’, meaning flowing back to israel..or something.
annie, I saw that.. And if indeed CSI (not to be confused with the show of the same name) is an Israeli company, then Israel is getting the maximum bang for their buck from US taxpayers…

The tear gas is part of the aid package to Israel (and presumable Egypt since their aid package is related to Israel’s). So the government invests in an Israeli company and then provides that physical aid to Israel. Israel figured out a way to double dip?
hey hey hey, the OWS movement made it to the MSM/NPR this morning. Yessirreebob, NPR was outraged, well maybe not outraged, but they did mention that policeman peppersprayed OWS protesters at UC Berkley. NPR included mention that the president of the university walked down an “eerily silent” file of protesters and later commented that she “shared the outrage” of the protesters; and that the policemen who wielded the pepperspray had been removed from their jobs.
does that mean that any day now, NPR will report that IDF peppersprayed a 10-year old Palestinian boy? link to mondoweiss.net
Yes? Soon? Fair and balanced??
This Thanksgiving, we may all pray that the slavery in Egypt (and Palestine and America) be lifted, hopefully without too many (more) plagues.
Have to wait another year…. After thanksgiving in December ;)
Phil thanks for bringing our attention to this issue
This is a rather disturbing article about Iran by Hillary and Flynt Mann Leverett
THE “IRAQIZATION” OF AMERICA’S IRAN DEBATE: MOHAMMAD JAVAD LARIJANI AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA
“If, however, one wants to learn more about the cultural and intellectual pathologies currently afflicting America’s Iran debate, it is hard to do better than the interview Larijani gave on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, see here. The chief interviewer is Morning Joe’s Mika Brzezinski (daughter of Zbigniew); she is aided by regular MSNBC commentator Mike Barnicle, Council on Foreign Relations President Richard Haass, and author-journalist Jon Meacham. ”
