A National Journal poll of Washington insiders’ esteem for columnists offers a tragic view of who is influential. Note that most of the top ten are extremely pro-Israel.
National Journal published the results of its most recent poll that asked a panel of Congressional and Political Insiders to rank, one-through-five, those columnists, bloggers, and television or radio commentators who most help to shape their own opinion or worldview.
New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman received more points than anyone else, with support from both Democrats and Republicans.
Thomas Friedman Total points (T): 335 Dem. Points (D): 230 Rep. Points (R) :105
David Brooks T: 282 D: 141 R: 141
Charles Krauthammer T: 281 D: 1 R: 280
George Will T: 246 D: 23 R: 223
Paul Krugman T: 182 D: 181 R: 1
David Broder T: 165 D: 106 R: 59
E.J. Dionne T: 147 D: 143 R: 4
Karl Rove T: 126 D: 1 R: 125
Peggy Noonan T: 101 D: 5 R: 96
William Kristol T: 91 D: 5 R: 86
UPDATE: I’m informed that the poll is from 2009. It actually said that in the link! I’m terribly out of date. My apologies.

WOW.
Heavens to Murgatroyd…No wonder our country is crumbling. Glenn Greenwald wrote a great piece on Friedman recently. Friedman’s radio interview with a woman in New Zealand that Greenwald linked to is a must listen. Friedman gets rather upset when the woman ask him about his wealth in context to his comments
Not hard to find columnist who supported the invasion of Iraq.
It’s hard to decide what’s scarier–the list in it’s totality, or the fact that Tom Friedman is at the top.
Same Charles Kuthamare who opined that the Virgina Tech shooter was inspired by Jihadism and by islaims and by Al quida ( not in so many words or sequences ) as was evident by the tatoo “Isahmeil’ on his arm.
This is what meritocracy looks like.
I wonder if Ivy League admissions departments verify Zionist credentials when projecting the future success (and alumni donations) of Jewish applicants.

Straightening The Leftward Lean
By Daniel P. Krauthammer [spawn of Charles]
“It’s no secret that the world of academia—Harvard included—has a decidedly leftward lean. Not even liberals deny this. But what they do often deny is that this overbearing bias is a problem that needs to be addressed. ”

LAMB: If I read correctly, you have a son, Daniel, who’s at Harvard
KRAUTHAMMER: Yes
LAMB: What’s he studying
KRAUTHAMMER: He’s studying political science and economics.
LAMB: Does he think like you
KRAUTHAMMER: He thinks better than me. He’s far more sophisticated intellectually and politically than I was at his age, partly, I think, because he grew up in this town and exposed to political ideas and thoughts from a young age.
But yes, he’s quite remarkable.

Neoconservative social networks tend to be highly articulated and conspicuous — extremely easy to graph.
Come on Sean. We all know unusually high IQ’s and a culture of prizing education are behind neoconservative dynastic success.

Did Krugman support Iraq war?
i believe he opposed it
That explains a lot.
Stunning.
Of the six that are Jews, only one isn’t a neocon.
Correct me if I am wrong, but even if most Jews have mildly pro-Israel feelings, the vast majority are not neocons.
On that list, only Krugman isn’t a warmongering neocons of the Jews.
And even he is subdued in his criticism, offering only meek and blunted critique(if he ever does) when compared to economic issues. And Krugman’s a quite politically active guy, so it’s not like he doesn’t care or notice.
And what does that say not only about the state of American journalism, but also about the state of Jewish journalism, such as it is? The neocon concensus is an elite media phenomenom, both within the American Jewish community as well as their gentile counterparts.
Yet neither group represents their respective bases very well.
“On that list, only Krugman isn’t a warmongering neocons of the Jews.”
Krugman is a former Bernanke lackey. Krugman doesn’t explicitly warmonger, but he never, ever calls for cutting Defense spending, to the best of my knowledge.
He supported the TARP bailout for the vampire squid, with the phony justification that the banks would turn around and lend that money to the masses, which would improve the economy. He freakin’ knew they would just keep the money, which they did.
And we saw his machinations during the Obamacare debate, where he promoted the pro-Wall Street, IRS enforced “reform” at every turn. Krugman cited bogus data compiled by the MIT guy Gruber, who was on Obama/Sunstein’s payroll.
When Marcy Wheeler and Glennzilla called out Gruber, Krugman attacked them.
Krugman is a key agent in the whole enterprise.
You’re completely delusional.
Never calls for cutting defense spending?
Pro-Wall Street?
Ha!
Oh and on the bailout he said that he wanted to nationalize the banks, fire their boards and eliminate all bonuses while reforming the entire system by re-instituting Glass/Steagal, massively cut down on the derivates market.
He saw the bailout as a means to an end, instead it became an open gift which he harshly attacked Obama for.
I’ve rarely seen a more shockingly stupid comment than yours.
You’ve manage to completely misunderstand just about everything in such a small amount of space. I’m almost impressed. Am I being harsh? Not in your case.
These poll results do not sound that surprising because all of these people probably share the same ideology. It is like polling members of a political party about who has the best ideology. Such a poll would favor their comrades. These columnists would be damned if they were judged according to accuracy or prescience. The media system, though, primarily rewards ideological conformity.
The list is a bit out of date (2009) since David Broder is dead. Wouldn’t surprise me if not very many people noticed, though.
I know there are Weapons of Mass Destruction somewhere up there north, east or west of Tikrit….and you can take that to the bank…
Mohammed Atta met with agents of Iraq in Sarajevo, or maybe it was Prague, or maybe Belgrade or it might have been Istanbul with they now call Constantinople…that’s for sure…
Tommy Thompson said fuck it and left quickly…Bremer when asked where are the WMD’s by Bush replied, “how the fuck should I know, that’s not part of my job”…
“Weather balloons”….entire Bush/Israel/Wolfowitz, Perle, Feith, Cheney, Rumsfeld caper sounds like something cooked up in the bar on the Simpsons…
somewhere up there north, east or west
south too!
C’mon Krauss. uggggh 6/10= 60% Jewish. That’s really disproportionate and doesn’t look good. Stop taking your eyes off the elephant in the room.
Let there be no doubt: Krugman is King!
