Boy escapes tear gas in Bethlehem, Photo (c) Tom Suarez, April 11, 2013
Tom Suarez shared this photograph from Bethlehem with me the other day and I found it so moving in its simplicity that I asked him for a caption, which follows.
The IDF‘s frequent incursions into Aida refugee camp and other “trouble spots” near Bethlehem send tear gas at the whims of the wind. Here, a boy in southern Bethlehem covers his face and runs away when the tear gas the IDF was spraying in Aida blew to where he and his friend were playing.
I’d note that this boy is not a combatant or a protester, just a boy who was playing.
The innocent boy was playing when the adults arrived in the form of a good whiff of tear gas.
Collective punishment and assault does not discriminate between its victims. It’s probably a bonus as viewed by the IOF.
Now, on to more important topics, like how the notorious Justin
Bieber, all of age 19, insulted a wannabe Jewish Hollywood princess: http://www.algemeiner.com/2013/04/14/jewish-actress-emmy-rossum-slams-justin-bieber-for-anne-frank-remark/
Somebody’s child.
“I’d note that this boy is not a combatant or a protester, just a boy who was playing.”
Not sure what your point is here. Am I right in thinking that the gas comes from an army enforcing an illegal occupation & ethnic cleansing using tactics like collective punishment and selective/wholesale killing as it chooses? Do resisters deserve gassing in your book or are you just happy to appease readers who might think so?
