Yakov offers this open letter to Abe Foxman:
Abe,
It's time to go. I have been following your updates on the A.D.L. page very closely and I am frightened for you. I’m concerned that you have been too busy doing your wonderful work on behalf of the Jewish people to heed the advice that’s on your web page, “In a Storm of Anti-Semitism, Listen carefully, Be Prepared.” If only the pre-holocaust Jews had the same warning signs we have today. I am appalled but sadly not surprised by the rampaging Anti-Semitism that you so meticulously chronicle. I want to especially thank you for publicizing the danger from the Pakistani blogger who blames the Mossad for the Mumbai attack and the Indonesian blogger who blames the Jews for the economic collapse. Here in the U.S. we’ve had in recent weeks, 5 congressmen vote against supporting Israels Gaza attack, the 60 minutes hate piece, the Bill Moyers blood libel not to mention Obama’s interview with the Arab TV station.
I know you want to wait till the last minute to make Aliyah but you clearly have done as much as you possibly can to warn the rest of us of the dangers we face.
Other Jews are going to take a different route. They think that by selling out their people they will save their skin. When Joe Klein gets his knock on the door, history shows that the likes of Jimmy Carter and Bill Moyers won’t spare him because he’s one of the “good Jews.” That goes for the J Street crowd, Bob Simon, and all of the rest of the self-haters.
Do not despair about your failure in the U.S. There is much work to be done in Israel itself. Call me a paranoid Jew but even as the world says we should let go of the holocaust already, I find a lot of evidence that many Nazis have not only survived but are in fact writing editorials for Haaretz.
If Hamas rocket attacks continue and Israel nukes Gaza, we both know that Haaretz and other critics of Israel will be sanctimonious. We are going to hear ad nauseam how disproportionate it was. They won’t appreciate how painful a decision it was for Israeli leaders to kill a million Palestinians. While in the U.S. J Street will be kowtowing to the Goyim, you will be on the home front reminding the world, as Golda Meir famously said, we can forgive the Arabs for killing us but we can’t forgive them for making us kill them. On their part the Palestinians will be playing the victim yet again. So it should be interesting. I have spoken to my contacts in Israel and they will be happy to make you an honorary member of the I.D.F. (you get a uniform too with Abe printed in Hebrew right on the collar)
So Abe please go. Save yourself and leave us to our fate with the Anti-Semites.
