Emad Burnat’s Oscar speech: ‘We are seeking freedom and peace — for my son Gibreel and his generation’

The following image is circulating on Twitter. It hasn’t been confirmed as the speech Emad Burnat would have given had 5 Broken Cameras won the Oscar for best Feature Documentary, but I think it looks legit.

What an incredible moment it would have been:

Oh and if I had a brain, Oh and if I had a brain
I’d be cold as a Zionist and rich as Adelson
That turned all those good hearts away

Emad Burnat at the Oscars . I think Palestine is really oozing nicely into the consciousness of the world. The Zionist capacity for self deception continues. And Israel sinks further into the sludge of religious nihilism. The battle reminds me of St Patrick versus paganism. The false god of hasbara has no reach, no power .

It’s another good week for ahla Filisteen

Why 5 Broken Cameras or The Gatekeepers could not have won at the Oscars:
Jonathan Cook:
“Guy Davidi, the Israeli co-director of 5 Broken Cameras, one of the finalists, said industry insiders had warned him that pressure was being exerted on the Academy to stop the films winning the award.
“Many people in Hollywood are working very hard to make sure that neither film wins,” he said. “From Israel’s point of view, an Oscar would be a public relations disaster and mean more people get to see our films.””
