Clintonites on message: Vote for Trump, and you get Putin

US Politics
on 46 Comments

Something really is breaking loose with the Donald Trump nomination. He has so frightened the establishment with his refusal to hire the usual experts and his trashing of the “media elites” and his comments against NATO that the Beltway crowd has gone haywire, striking back by saying that Trump is a tool of the Russians! And not only that but the Russians hacked the Democratic Party emails and gave them to Wikileaks to help Trump.

This has to be seen to be believed. In the last week a whole crowd of neocons and liberal internationalists has made the assertion that Trump is acting in Russia’s interest. Trump’s understanding of America’s role in the world “aligns with Russia’s geostrategic interests,” Jeffrey Goldberg explained at the Atlantic.

While Franklin Foer at Slate said that Trump is serving Vladimir Putin in Putin’s effort to “weaken” the United States and “destroy the west.”

The Clinton campaign is joining in on the craziness (if it didn’t start it to begin with). On CNN today, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager said that “Russian state actors” were behind the leaks of 20,000 Democratic National Committee emails that so embarrassed the Dems on Friday; and Trump has a hand in it, because he reshaped the Republican Party platform to make it pro-Russian!

Those emails have now resulted in the resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the chair of  the Democratic National Committee, because  they revealed that she was not playing fair with Bernie Sanders.

And Robby Mook, Hillary Clinton’s campaign manager, is blaming the Russians, per the Washington Post. Trump “made changes to the [Republican] platform” to accommodate Putin.

“There’s evidence Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole those emails, and there are experts saying they are releasing these emails for the purpose of helping Donald Trump,” Mook told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an interview that aired Sunday on “State of the Union.” “I don’t think it’s coincidental these emails were released on the eve of our convention here.”

Mook said the idea that Russia leaked Democrats’ emails to possibly help Trump was “disturbing.”

“We need to be concerned Trump and his allies made changes to the platform to make it more pro-Russian, and we saw him talking about how NATO shouldn’t intervene [in Russian disputes]. So I think when you put it all together, it’s a disturbing picture,” he said.

In a statement emailed to The Washington Post, Trump’s campaign called that assertion a “joke.”

It’s no joke at Slate, where Franklin Foer went in this week for a fresh form of redbaiting:

Trump’s inner circle is populated with advisers and operatives who have long careers advancing the interests of the Kremlin.

The echo chamber here on the Russian story includes members-in-good-standing Robert Kagan, David Brooks, Paul Krugman, Josh Marshall. It sure looks like someone has been circulating talking points about Trump as Putin’s trojan horse; and that it would be worth it to have a new cold war with Russia– and Iran– if we can only get Hillary Clinton elected.

Foer says Putin wants to “destroy” the west, using Donald Trump. Look at this chain of airtight logic:

In the end, we only have circumstantial evidence about the Russian efforts to shape this election—a series of disparate data points and a history of past interference in similar contests. But the pattern is troubling, and so is the premise. If Putin wanted to concoct the ideal candidate to serve his purposes, his laboratory creation would look like Donald Trump. The Republican nominee wants to shatter our military alliances in Europe; he cheers the destruction of the European Union; he favors ratcheting down tensions with Russia over Ukraine and Syria, both as a matter of foreign policy and in service of his own pecuniary interests. A Trump presidency would weaken Putin’s greatest geo-strategic competitor. By stoking racial hatred, Trump will shred the fabric of American society.

Notice the Syria reference. This laboratory geopolitics makes Putin and Iran the main stirrers-up of  trouble in the world, thereby meshing with the claim put out by Benjamin Netanyahu that Iran is the chief fount of terrorism in the world, which has in turn been promoted by Hillary Clinton’s braintrust and the anti-Iran deep state inside the Obama administration.

Clinton has played these cards directly, in an ad saying that she has “taken on Putin.”

That ad shows Clinton on a stage with Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli PM. That rightwing strongman reached into our politics last year and tried to undermine the greatest global diplomatic achievement of the post-Iraq era, the Iran deal. And his militantly racist policies are doing more to destroy America’s reputation than even Donald Trump on a bad day. He seems a lot worse than Vladimir Putin. As for the Clinton charge that the Republicans changed their platform to accommodate Putin, that’s projection: the Clinton team made changes in the Democratic platform to accommodate Netanyahu’s interests, as expressed by the Israel lobby.

When is someone going to talk about Netanyahu’s influence? The day after never. Maybe that’s the point of this Russian affair.

Thanks to Ofer Neiman.

It would be so much easier to yuck it up over this if it were only satire in a movie and not real political happenings in a western ‘democracy’. I watched Chuck Todd’s interview of Trump and couldn’t get over how childlike his answers to questions are. I’ve avoiding anything about him except jabs by Jon Stewart and John Oliver so watching an interview was unreal. No Syrian refugees in the united states! His plan – create some kind of safe haven for them in Syria – bought and paid for by, I’m guessing he meant the Saudis when he said ‘middle east’. Who knows? Maybe he was thinking the israelis? I was remembering how he was selling his separation wall to his base and claiming Mexico would paid for it. Not happening. His plans are infantile. How did he ever get this far? Oh right, Moscow is behind all of it. Incitement seems to be the go to plan for the world.

Zio-supremacists have an impeccable record when it comes to terrorism, ethnic cleansing, theft, occupation, colonization, oppression, torture, murder and sundry (war) crimes on behalf of all Jews and in the name of Jewish supremacism in/and a religion-supremacist “Jewish State” in as much as possible of Palestine.

    • hophmi
      July 25, 2016, 12:47 pm

I have little doubt that Phil supports dismantling NATO. Most on the radical left see NATO as an extension of American imperial power. Since the Cold War ended (and the radical left lost its ideological moorings), they’ve always taken Russia’s side on this question; they opposed NATO intervention in Bosnia and Serbia (and were perfectly fine with letting a million Muslims die) and they’re doing the same thing now by supporting the appeasement of Vladimir Putin. They also adopted his claim of Western “interference” in Ukraine and Georgia (read: they kept me from taking them over without opposition).

The honest commentators here won’t deny these positions. Between a world where America is a unipolar power and a multipolar one where Russia represses democracy throughout the FSU but serves to check Western power, they’ll choose the latter, because they are not (and have never been) strong supporters of liberal democracy or democratic values elsewhere in the world, which they see as being the same as advancing Western imperialism.

HOPHMI- “I have little doubt that Phil supports dismantling NATO.”

I doubt that Phil does, but I certainly do. NATO was always intended as the organizational means to permit US control of European affairs, including the funding of militaristic right-wing elements. Bad as that was, Clinton turned NATO into an out of area imperial strike force which has been involved in numerous acts of military aggression, Libya and Syria recent examples. The NATO military actions in the former Yugoslavia were the culmination of an imperial destabilization campaign, the loss of life primarily a consequence of this outside intervention. Some of this was initiated by the German BND (CIA equivalent). The first head of the BND was none other than Reinhard Gehlen, former General in charge of “intelligence” on the Eastern Front for Nazi Germany during World War Two. You do recall what went on under the Nazis on the Eastern Front? Also, both the Muslims and the Croats were allies of Nazi Germany during the war, the Serbs comprised the bulk of the partisan forces. But don’t let mere facts get in the way of your demonstration of Zionist solidarity in support of Hillary.

Your comments on this particular issue are even more out of touch with reality than normal. As a citizen of empire you really do have an obligation to at least be aware of what that empire is doing. Right now the empire is on a rampage which could well lead to a nuclear war and the termination of the species. Lying to misrepresent this threat to humanity is not something to be proud of. The two major obstacles to eliminating nuclear weapons while we still can are the US and Israel.

I agree with the appearance of desperation here. Whatever one may think of Trump’s pro wrestling campaign style, the idea that he is Putin’s puppet is pretty ridiculous. He is obviously too much of a capitalist.

The notion that Hillary is a puppet of the Israel-Neocon war profiteers, however, is supported by a great deal of evidence. All of which goes unreported by the Israel-Neocon controlled establishment media, from the New York Times to the PBS Newshour to MSNBC to Fox.

Also unreported is the case that the Israeli-Neocons stirred up the discord with Russia over Ukraine in order to sabotage the growing cooperation between Obama and Putin in the Middle East. See What Neocons Want from Ukraine Crisis here –
    http://consortiumnews.com/2014/03/02/what-neocons-want-from-ukraine-crisis/

Who would seriously imagine that Russia would give up its major naval base in the Crimea because of some diplomatic slight of hand? More likely, Victoria Nuland and her Israeli-Neocon cohorts believed it would trigger exactly the kind of conflict it triggered. Further, the Israeli-Neocon demonizing of Russia while ignoring the decades of ongoing atrocities by Israel is theatre of the absurd.

The growing Obama-Putin cooperation was a clear threat to the war profits generated by the Israeli war zone and its spillover conflicts in the region (“War Profiteers and the Roots of the War on Terror”). The urgent calls for more wars is desperate because the Israeli-Neocons are being found out and called out. Criminal trials may be on the horizon. More war might drown out the truth, again.

Changing the story about the DNC clearly rigging the Democratic primaries into a story about Putin hypothetically rigging the U.S. election is the sort of pivot tactic on which the oligarchy spends the big bucks.

Trump was clearly on the warpath in his convention speech, and his main target, mentioned repeatedly, was the oligarchy, though he didn’t use that term. While he was careful not to offend the “poorly educated” GOP voters, he was not selling bigotry, instead putting in strong pitches for inner cities, African-Americans, and sexual minorities. His references to the oligarchy’s high priorities of lower taxes and Israel (i.e. war) were minimal (one sentence each). Trump might be a pied piper stealing the GOP’s longstanding base of duped voters, who have heretofore been wooed by Wall Street with winks and nods at various extreme social views. If these voters were to learn about the oligarchy’s scamming them, that would be a disaster worthy of the oligarchy’s visible desperation.

Agreed – the NeoconZios are more than happy to trade the security of the US for the greater good of Israel! And that is called TREASON! Our “relationship” with Israel has cost us $TRILLIONS and countless lives fighting their unjust wars as mercenaries. Our reputation on the world stage has plummeted as a result of becoming the attack dog of Israel, protecting it with unlimited money, armies and veto votes in the UN. Because of our blind support of this rogue state, we have become the most despised country on Earth!

Based on this Ziopractice of intentionally damaging our relationships with countries all over the world whenever it benefits Israel, it’s apparent that the Apartheid Terrorist government of Israel and their Ziopuppets in congress and the ZioMSM represent the greatest threat to peace in the world today.

When will we wake up and remove this parasite before it’s too late? When are people going to realize that illegally removing heads of state and destabilizing ME countries only results in MORE terrorism and millions of innocents slaughtered? This certainly benefits Israel, as we remove their competitors in the region one after another. But what effect does this international TERRORISM perpetrated by America have on us!?

Will we allow ZioPuppets like Saban’s pet Clinton to fight more wars for Israel? Will AIPAC pen a declaration of war to Iran and have their ZioMinions in congress sign it? Will the ZioMSM continue to spew Hasbara and beat the drums of endless, unjust, mindless wars – fighting as Israeli mercenaries?

The ZioNeocons are feeling the world closing in on them and they are desperate. Their arrogance, fear and aggression has exposed them. We must stop them before they can set us on a course of irreversible war and destruction. It’s time for us to focus on what’s best for the US, NOT Israel; it’s never been clearer that the “relationship” is NOT mutually beneficial!

It is well known that politics are nothing but lie and cheating, however what is happening this year in the USA is more than embarassing!
Trump is a clown and we should be saved from he ever becoming our president.
Hillary is not a bit better, her lies are several miles long, besides the Clintons have criminal records going back 30 years. She was sentenced to return nearly a million illegal donations, the White Water affair in Arkansas, etc., etc. Only big money and the connections of the Clintons saved them from going to jail several times.
Do either of them look to be the right person as the leader of the western world? Is this what the USA can come up with?

Any American politician who sells his or her office (Clinton included) to the Apartheid Terrorist government of Israel is committing TREASON! And the ZioMSM spewing Hasbara lies represents the most repulsive form of journalism that has ever existed. Herr Goebbels would be proud of his “protégés” who have taken this disgusting, reprehensible practice to a new level!

We are in a war to take back our country from the agents of Zionism. Although, thanks to the tireless efforts of organizations like BDS and Mondoweiss, it appears that we are gaining ground, let us not forget that a desperate, cornered animal is dangerous!

As the truth about Israeli terrorism and an imbalance of Zionist influence in our government and media becomes more widespread, there will be an ANGRY outcry for justice. As we prepare to celebrate our victory, we must remain careful not to lower ourselves to the tactics of this vile enemy! It may take longer to throw AIPAC out of Washington by following higher principles, but it will make the taste of victory that much sweeter!

I am so tired of the reflexive demonization of Russia and Putin. WE foment a coup in Ukraine, help to illegally depose an elected leader there, and PUTIN is the aggressor? Ethnic Russians in East Ukraine did not want the illegal regime change. Crimeans voted in overwhelming fashion to leave Ukraine and rejoin Russia.

Syria invites Russia to join its battle with Al Qaeda and ISIS. ISIS only began to shrink once Russia became involved. The US, and the other parties in the Syrian theater are NOT invited by the Syrian govt. They have NO legal right to be there. But RUSSIA is the aggressor?

PHIL- “This has to be seen to be believed. In the last week a whole crowd of neocons and liberal internationalists has made the assertion that Trump is acting in Russia’s interest.”

You are quite right, it has to be seen to be believed. The neocons and liberal Zionists in bed together. Such is the power of ethnic solidarity that it completely overwhelms rationality. We always knew that the imperial intelligentsia was a bunch of liars, but now it is obvious the extent of the control of information and shutting out of rational discourse.

PHIL- “When is someone going to talk about Netanyahu’s influence?”

A perfect example of this is the article at TPM by Josh Marshall where he tries to substantiate Putin’s influence by claiming that Russian oligarch money is influencing Trump. He tries to tie Trump with “…Alexander Mashkevich, a billionaire once charged in a corruption case….” (Josh Marshall, TPM) http://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/trump-putin-yes-it-s-really-a-thing He implies that Mashkevich is an oligarch favored by Putin. Case closed. God forbid that he should mention that Mashkevich has Israeli citizenship and travels around on an Israeli passport. Wrong message. Further, “On April 6, 2011, Mashkevitch announced his intention to found a Jewish version of Al-Jazeera that will “represent Israel on an international level, with real information.” (Wikipedia) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Mashkevitch Based upon the facts, a better case can be made that Trump is, in fact, heavily influenced by Jewish Zionist money. The fact that Trump appears to be somewhat less of a warmonger than Hillary shouldn’t be upsetting these “liberals” so much. And this gross and propagandistic misrepresentation of reality by esteemed members of the imperial doctrinal system is in itself both revealing and worrisome.

Of course you are reading it right. The level of intellectual dishonesty is mind boggling, worse than I recall ever seeing it. How does one misrepresent the reality that Hillary is running to the right of The Donald? Things have sunk so low that the Democrats are actually red-baiting Trump with this Putin nonsense. Red-baiting, for cry sakes!

Elections can be stressful times in my home. Our friends (mostly my wife’s) are stereotypical middle class “liberal” Democrats. Nice people, reasonably intelligent normally, well educated with mostly masters degrees, they shriek at me that a vote for Jill Stein is really a vote for Trump! How do I respond without alienating these idiots? If you were a Republican would you shriek that a vote for Jill Stein was a vote for Hillary? No, of course not. My what a stupid thing to say. Perhaps I should point out that since they will always claim that the Democrat is the lesser of the two evils, then they will always vote for the Democrat, never holding that person accountable for their actions, lesser evilism nothing more than a psychological trick to salve their conscience for habitually voting for someone who will implement policies they oppose? Maybe that will work. Who needs friends anyway? Besides, once they realize that my ridicule is with the best of intentions, all will be forgiven.

Putin seems to be the most intelligent, the most sensible, the most grown-up, and the most effective of prominent world leaders. His record in rebuilding Russia from the ruin of the Yeltsin years is impressive, and he gives the impression that he is really concerned with doing the best for his country.

    Get Putin, if you can.

If nothing else, he appears to be sane. I am not so sure about Hillary and the neocons she cavorts with. They seem determined to eliminate Russian independence from empire at all costs, and seem willing to risk the survival of the species to achieve their goals. They are pathological risk takers. An example of their thinking is the quote below from either Richard Perle of Michael Ledeen (I have seen the quote attributed to one or the other numerous times).

“If we just let our vision of the world go forth, and we embrace it entirely and we don’t try to piece together clever diplomacy, but just wage a total war… our children will sing great songs about us years from now.” (Michael Ledeen or Richard Perle)

A good example of his intelligence and grasp of geostrategic reality is his warning to journalists in the link I provide below which occurred in June of 2015. What people don’t seem to be aware of is that this eastward march of NATO entails the installation of missile defense systems on the border of Russia. Don’t be fooled by the name “missile defense.” These missiles would be incapable of stopping a Russian first strike against the US. Their sole purpose is to blunt a Russian retaliatory launch after a US first strike against Russia. This wildly provocative policy could precipitate a nuclear war. The neocons and others pushing this are pathological risk takers. Putin’s warning: http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article45193.htm

Why would the Russians even bother to hack the Democratic Party emails? All they’d possibly contain is petty bickering, infighting, backstabbing, conspiring and scheming within one faction of a two-party domestic US political structure.

No, the Russians, Chinese, and others (inc Israelis) would already be sitting on the mother lode of hacking treasure, Hillary Clinton’s private email server.

Why would the Russians back Trump when they probably have all the dirt on Clinton, including ‘top secret’ and deleted emails that the State Department doesn’t even know about. The Russians’ best-case geopolitical game plans would all be predicated on a Clinton win in November.

    Same goes for the Chinese.

The Israelis are different …they won’t need to bribe Clinton, they’ve already bought and paid for her fealty.
