Rightwing video says New Israel Fund supports ‘foreign agents’ who persecute Israeli soldiers

Israel/Palestine
on 21 Comments

The rightwing Israeli Jewish group “Im Tirtzu” has published an incitement video, featuring Adi Shosberger, who has recently called soldiers near the Gaza fence ‘terrrorists,’ and an activist from ‘Machsom Watch’ (‘Checkpoint watch’) who tells an Israeli soldier “you are a disgrace”.

The video frames these actions as a conspiracy of the progressive New Israel Fund. New Israel Fund, a global organization based in the U.S., has supported Machsom Watch, but it has no connection to Shosberger. “I have no connection to the New Israel Fund,” Shosberger writes, in Hebrew.

The Im Tirtzu video satirically promotes a video game, where one plays a soldier confronting leftist activists:

“Do you want to experience what IDF soldiers feel when they are persecuted by New Israel Fund organizations?”, the narrator says.

In the game, the soldier confronts activists and ‘terrorists’ yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’. The narrator says:

“What are you waiting for? Join the fight against the foreign agents.”

In the actual video game, the soldier can kill the Palestinians, but has to jump over the Israeli activists.

Shosberger, who was protesting the manifestly illegal policy of shooting unarmed protesters, has also been trashed by a mainstream radio host who has publicly fantasized about her rape and murder, calling her “stupid”, “filth” and “little bitch”.

The Israeli organization “Im Tirzu“ calls itself “the largest grassroots Zionist movement in Israel,” but has been widely labelled “fascist”. A Jerusalem court judge has even ruled that this is a legitimate charge.

Its call to fight the “foreign agents” arose 2-1/2 years ago, when Im Tirtzu published a video which incited against four NGO’s: B’Tselem, the Public Committee Against Torture in Israel, Breaking the Silence, and HaMoked: Center for the Defense of the Individual. Staffers were personally named and framed as “foreign agents”.

“While we fight terror, they fight us,” the narrator said

That video coincided with the push from Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, herself arguably a fascist, of the “Transparency bill” nearly two years ago, which forced organizations that receive more than half their funding from institutions abroad (including from European governments), to disclose it prominently in official reports. The law does not specifically refer to leftwing organizations, but applies to about 25 NGOs. Rightwing NGOs, such as those supporting Israel’s occupation of the West Bank, tend to rely on private donations, which the law does not cover.

The recent video is a further incitement against those who criticize Israeli policy, and it is making a blanket judgement of any dissent to be a national treason by “foreign agents”.

Im Tirtzu is ostensibly calling for this treatment of “foreign agents” to be implemented in law. But the incitement there is so virulent, that it’s not difficult to see how someone might get the idea that they should take the law into their own hands, and ‘teach these foreign agents a lesson’ – as an act of patriotism, of course.

One might be inclined to see this merely as a ‘game’, as the video suggests it is. But it is not a game. It is dead serious. It’s as serious as when the mentioned mainstream radio host Shai Goldstein says he “feels like killing that woman” (Adi Shosberger). But many Israelis don’t seem to get this. It passes as mere ‘outrage’, justified by the notion that the “most moral army in the world” cannot possibly be carrying out acts of terrorism, or even acting in ways which are a “disgrace”.

Militarism is a religion in Israel, like Zionism, and people are being sacrificed by it in many ways. Mostly, it’s Palestinians – but it’s also those who show solidarity with them. Then you’re a “foreign agent”.

Israeli Zionists – blinded by their greed, hatefulness, immorality and self-righteousness – are too stupid to realize that:
    – Zionist organizations like NIF are on their side (they, too, want Israel to remain a religion-supremacist “Jewish State”); and
    – Israel’s on-going occupation and colonization of not-Israel and dispossession, oppression, maiming and murder of not-Israelis will be its downfall.

Zionism is hysterical. This is a cult out of control. All dissent is a target. Civil society is dying.
It is all rather reminiscent of another militaristic society that collapsed.

Julius Streicher was the antisemitic editor of the Nazi paper Der Stuermer. He was executed in 1946. He was executed at Purim. His last words were “Purimfest”. His contempt for Judaism never left him. And he is still winning

      Must watch:
I just received this excellent 2017 video in which French students protest against the appearance of Israel’s ambassador, Aliza Bin Noun. It’s in French with English sub-titles.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGd1BZmIDLs

“In an exceptionally intense confrontation, French students confront the Israeli Ambassador who came to speak at the university of Rennes and stand up chanting ‘freedom for Palestine!’

“The visit of the Israeli Ambassador Aliza Bin Noun and former head of the political bureau of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman, came in a tense atmosphere marked by the outrage of pro-Palestinian activists at the pressuring of the UN to suppress its recent report condemning Israel as an apartheid regime.

“Before leaving the lecture hall in an act of boycott of Israeli officials, the students also took this opportunity to restate their demands that the French government repeal the ban on participation in the BDS campaign.”

    SPEAKING OF FASISTS/FASCISM:
“Under cover of Iran, Netanyahu just took three new steps toward fascism”
    • For Israel’s rickety democracy, already shot through with holes, the worst may well be dead ahead
    By Bradley Burston | Haaretz.com | May 1, 2018

[EXCERPTS] . . . All eyes were on Israel’s military headquarters in Tel Aviv Monday night, as Benjamin Netanyahu literally unveiled his magician’s cabinets, the glittering CDs and snaggle-toothed binders holding what he said were 55,000 pages and 183 discs of Iran’s nuclear secrets.

As the prime minister spoke, however, as a war-anxious nation and an attentive, approving White House hung on his every word, a little over 30 miles up the road, in Jerusalem, a mortal threat to Israel was being assembled under our very noses. In the Knesset, no less. A set of three time bombs, complex, deadly, radioactive.

Each of them a step toward annihilating Israel as we have come to know it. Each of them a step toward dictatorial rule, toward fascism. Each of them approved by – spurred by – Netanyahu himself.

    – The Knesset approved the first of three votes on the Jewish Nation-State Law, which, among other provisions, effectively undermines equality and democracy as guiding principles for Israeli law; effectively downgrades the status of Israel’s Arab citizens by downgrading Arabic, presently an official language of the state; and effectively enshrines segregation in Jews-only communities.

    – The Knesset gave full approval to an amendment, pushed into passage by Netanyahu, which grants a prime minister “under extreme circumstances” the power to declare war alone, with only the “consultation” of his defense minister. Until now, a declaration of war was a decision for the full cabinet.

    – While it is still unclear if the final version of The Nation-State Law will include a provision which would instruct the justice system to give Israel’s Jewish character preference over its democratic one in cases where the two are at odds, a third law passed on Monday may provide a back-door path to the same goal. The law urges judges to turn to Jewish law and tradition in interpreting legislation open to question. Opposition lawmakers said the law paved the way to a dictatorial, Jewish-nationalist theocracy. Zionist Union MK Merav Michaeli said the law “does not recognize equality, not between Jews and non-Jews, and not between men and women.”

From Netanyahu’s standpoint, the best part of all of this was that most Israelis – dazzled or dismayed by the prime minister’s performance at the Kirya military compound – had no idea that any of the legislative activity was going on. . .

. . . A Netanyahu-endorsed bill, coming up for consideration at the beginning of this coming week, may in practice be the closest to enabling fascism. How do we know?

Because the only Israeli NGO which an Israeli court has actually ruled can be likened in some respects to fascism [i.e., Im Tirtzu], just took out a full-page ad in Israel Hayom, warning that we Israelis – and Netanyahu – had better pass the bill, which has the misleadingly benign name of the Override Law.

The bill, in its most extreme form, would enable the Knesset to invalidate any decision of the Supreme Court by a 61-vote parliamentary majority. In the near term, rightists hope to use the bill in order deport thousands of African asylum seekers, circumventing court-ordered restrictions. In the longer term, hardliners hope to use the law to enable full legalization and eventual annexation of settlements.

It is a bill so obvious and dark in intent that Israeli Chief Esther Hayut [Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Israel] personally told the prime minister on Sunday that it constituted “a danger to democracy.” . . .

      P.S. FASCISM’S FUNDERS:
“Jewish Agency PR Flack Defends Hagee Gift to Im Tirtzu”
August 21, 2010 By Richard Silverstein

[EXCERPT] A few days ago the Israeli financial blog Calcalist published an expose on a $3-million gift by John Hagee’s Christians United for Israel, which was passed through the Jewish Agency via the Houston Jewish federation where it originated. I’ve reported in the past on the beneficiaries of tens of millions of dollars of Hagee/CUFI largess which are often settler projects and major settlements. The gift Calcalist was most interested in was $120,000 transmitted to the far-right Israeli group, Im Tirtzu.

Among other violations of Jewish Agency procedure concerning this gift and noted by the Israeli blog was that its funding is supposed to support educational projects, which it does in many cases. But the notion that there is any educational component to Im Tirtzu’s agenda is laughable. It is a purely partisan entity characterized by bare-knuckle, brawling-style political activism as evidenced by its scuzzy attacks on the New Israel Fund‘s Naomi Hazan and its nascent campaign to sack the leadership of Ben Gurion University’s political science department for alleged “anti-Zionist” tendencies.

Israel has (or once had, before major cuts in the national education budget) a fine higher education system developed over decades and nurtured in the principles of academic inquiry and the freedom to pursue knowledge in diverse ways. Im Tirtzu, if it had its way, would turn the Israeli educational system into cheerleaders for an ideologically correct pro-Zionist agenda. They would destroy the notion of academic freedom which is the pillar of any good university. And the Jewish Agency is willing to financially pimp on behalf of this garbage.

Just after I published my post on this, I noticed that Haviv Rettig Gur asked to friend me on Facebook. I remembered he was at one time a Jerusalem Post reporter, one of the interchangeable set which vent their noxiousness under the tutelage of queen bee neocon ranter-editor, Caroline Glick. I wondered why he wanted to friend me. After I confirmed him as a friend I received a message from him on my Wall sternly admonishing Calcalist and, by inference, me for “profound and irresponsible ignorance” in our reporting on Hagee’s gift.

In his initial message he wanted to make the point that the Jewish Agency wasn’t endorsing Hagee’s gift or Im Tirtzu, but was merely providing “philanthropic oversight,” which in a later message he described as follows:

In order to enable contributions to charities and Israeli civil society from abroad, the Federations, the UIA and the Agency provide a special program of financial oversight. This program is trusted by the American authorities, so that when we say the money arrived at its destination and is used for its intended purpose, they believe us and the donor back home can receive the tax benefits of his or her donation.

Translation: the Jewish Agency passes money from Hagee along to Im Tirtzu. Further, the Houston federation sends the check to the JA, which in turn transfers it to Im Tirtzu. Which means the Agency, in doing so, gives Hagee and his dirty anti-Semitic money an Israeli-Zionist heksher in addition to a 501c3 designation making it tax-deductible. . .

Government pushing bill that would punish foreign Jewish men who refuse to grant a divorce and would also apply to some Israelis married outside of the rabbinate

[EXCERPT] A government bill giving Israeli rabbinical courts the authority to punish foreign Jewish men who refuse to grant their wives a religious divorce is advancing through the legislative process.

The bill would allow these courts to prevent non-citizens in these circumstances from leaving Israel after a visit, or even to jail them. Such steps against foreign nationals are thought to be unprecedented.

The Knesset Constitution, Law and Justice Committee is slated to discuss the bill, which was jointly sponsored by the Justice Ministry and the Religious Services Ministry, next week.

Numerous organizations and experts have warned against the legislation. The official justification for the amendment is the problem of Jewish women overseas whose husbands refuse to grant them a religious divorce. Currently, the bill’s explanatory notes say, there is no overseas agency that can force the husband to grant the divorce, so the women remain trapped in unwilling marriages.

To solve this problem, however, the government has proposed a significant expansion of the rabbinical courts’ powers with almost no oversight. . .

“Israeli Zionists – blinded by their greed, hatefulness, immorality and self-righteousness – are too stupid to realize that”

You could also mention that under their current dictator in waiting they have become addicted compulsive liars. No truly civilised educated person believes a word that comes out of his mouth and sadly it has to be said that arguably the same now applies to the majority of the Jewish Israeli population who have fallen in line with his Mein Kampfian rants.
Increasingly this will translate into an avoid at all costs strategy if you come across a Zioland tourist in your home country or on holiday yourself abroad. A shame that the few remaining moral Israeli Jews who are appalled by the Fascist destination towards which their country is heading will suffer. They should get out asap and be pro – active in explaining to the civilised world why they got out. At the very least despite the difficulties they will be able to hold their head high and remind the world of the true values of Judaism.

EG The latest “twist” in the horrendous onslaught against the poor defenceless long suffering Jewish Israeli population by those nasty Gazan “terrorists” (100% of Gazans according to Herr Lieberman and he is an ex bouncer and knows all about these things ) is the horrendous fire kites of mass destruction which are being”flown” into Zioland. Apparently they have started bush fires. No of course they are not “false fire operations “. Zios would never light up their own nation – perish the thought. Lighting up other nations with state of the art missiles, white phosphorus munitions etc well that it OK when you are chosen.

Israelis are doped in large part because of Hebrew , a language nobody else speaks. Israeli morality is good only in Hebrew.
It is very hard to stop a society that has been so many years on a different path to the rest of humanity. Groupthink is almost impossible to stop while in process.

The Israeli right has made thousands of incremental changes to Israeli society over the past 41 years. The extremist has become mainstream. The key positions in Israel are all occupied by ideologues.

And the situation is not stable. It will continue to deteriorate.

There are lots of languages that nobody else speaks. Does their language corrupt the Finns? or the Dutch? or the Catalans? or the Cree? I don’t think so. It’s not the fault of the language. Look at English, spoken by more people, at least as a second language, than any other. Has its huge numbers of speakers saved the … or the … ?

There’s an argument that Modern Hebrew was designed to fit Zionist needs. And the result of that can be seen in the Israelis who grow up in a Hebrew-only environment, in the limitation of their ideas among other things.

Per se, speaking a language nobody else does may not matter. But Israel isn’t the same as the other children because Israel is an invention. Israel was created in a workshop by a few men . It doesn’t have cultural continuity going back to the dawn of time . Or even back as far as the Renaissance. Israel is to nationality as Lara Croft is to womanhood .

Israel’s sense of itself goes back to a hypertext. Someone wrote it . And that hypertext says that the Palestinians are foreigners . The Hebrew spoken in Israel, with the r pronounced in the German style, reflects the hypertext. You couldn’t make it up.

Hebrew is the glue that holds the whole fraud together . All of the logic that justifies the madness is available to Hebrew speakers, free of restraining crap such as international law and the modern concept of the citizen or even stuff such as Jewish ethics.
Sadly there is a problem. The hypertext is wrong .

Israel is so insanely vicious because the road to justice for the Palestinians wIll drive a coach and horses through manufactured Israeli identity. Israelis do not know who they are .

As to invented countries, I’m just back from Germany, described by Jean Giraudoux in his 1928 play ‘Siegfried’ as ‘pas une creation sociale et humaine, c’est une conjuration poetique et demoniaque’. You know what he meant. We stopped by the Holocaust and Roma/Sinti memorials with their sense of something still wrong. But what the poets conjured up has become real.

Hebrew is just a language. It is like any other. But in Israel it is also the mental landscape in which the groupthink is hosted. Changes in the common outlook of the group are reflected in the phrases used in Hebrew. All soldiers are good. All Gazans are terrorists.

English is used by a much larger group of people and far less sensitive to the Israeli reality. Eventually what is normal to say in Hebrew sounds very strange in English.

Like when Dr Abuel Aish’s family was murdered. Dr Abu el Aish was a correspondent on Channel 10. So he wasn’t a terrorist. But the IDF murdered his daughters anyway.
