Mondoweiss Can Respond When News Is Urgent Because of You

If you are like me, your heart has been wrenched by the news from Palestine over the past few months. Murders of journalists, medics and dozens of peaceful protesters all served as preamble to this week’s bombing of Gaza – the worst daytime attack since July 2014.

The Great March of Return and the hideousness of Israel’s response have demanded as much from Mondoweiss as any events could. I am writing now to ask you to donate whatever you can to help Mondoweiss keep the truth flowing from Palestine around the globe.

Donate to MondoweissSince the Great March of Return began in March, Mondoweiss has spent nearly twice our usual budget to pay reporters and photographers in Palestine for their brave work documenting this historic action. We are able to respond to urgent news moments like this because readers like you provide the needed resources.

Our goal this summer is to raise $60,000 to sustain and grow the Mondoweiss news operation in Palestine. Contributions from you and thousands of others who read Mondoweiss are investments in both reporting on the ground and the work of writers worldwide putting Israel’s regime in geopolitical and social context.

Over the next few weeks we will be highlighting Mondoweiss’s coverage of the Great March of Return in a series of messages to you from activists and reporters who value what we’ve published these last several weeks. They have volunteered to share their perspective on Mondoweiss because they know the importance of your donations in powering responsible journalism.

I am looking forward to sharing with you the comments of

  • Akram al-Wara, Palestinian journalist and videographer.
  • Nancy Murray, member of the international steering committee of the Gaza Freedom March.
  • Robert Cohen, British activist, writer and speaker on Palestine solidarity.
  • David Reed, the newest Mondoweiss staff member.
  • Jennifer Bing and Jehad Abusalim of the American Friends Service Committee, Chicago.
  • Donna Nevel, co-founder of Jews Say No and Facing The Nakba.

Donate to MondoweissWe’ll also share remarks from Tarek Loubani, a Palestinian-Canadian physician who was shot in the legs while providing medical support to protesters in Gaza. Tarek relies on Mondoweiss to help him understand the global context of events in Palestine.

I am moved by the dedication and generosity each of these people has shown in writing to you about the impact of Mondoweiss. I can’t possibly convey any better than they will why it’s crucial to invest in truth-telling from Palestine. All I can add is to tell you that your gift today will allow us to continue our work and increase its reach.

The money you invest will make a real difference for change. Please give now.

I support Save Venice at smile.amazon.com, and have contributed $35.00 over a few years with my purchases, and Save Venice has received a total of about $266.00 from what must be a small number of people over a few years.

I don’t see MondoWeiss listed as a potential charity. Maybe getting listed at smile.amazon.com would be a good way for more than a few people to contribute!

Donation made.

Done.

Thank you, @eljay and @JLewisDickerson! So far, this first day of the summer campaign is going very well!

Done!
