Israeli forces kill 2 Palestinians in Nablus

During an arrest raid in Nablus city, Israeli forces shot a Palestinian man in the head, killing him, and reportedly injured two others after running them over with a military jeep. Three days prior, the army shot and killed another Palestinian man in Beita.

Israeli forces killed two Palestinians in the northern occupied West Bank district of Nablus over the weekend and injured several others.

Before dawn on Monday Israeli forces raided the Ras al-Ain area of Nablus city, sparking confrontations with locals.

During the raid, Israeli forces shot a Palestinian man in the head, and reportedly injured two others after running them over with a military jeep.

The man who was injured with the bullet was identified as 31-year-old Jamil al-Kayyal, a resident of the city.

The Israeli army reported that during the arrest raid soldiers searched a home in the city and arrested a Palestinian resident “after finding a machine gun in his possession,” the Times of Israel reported.

“As the troops left the building, they came under attack from a group who threw explosives at them from a close distance, endangering their lives,” the army statement said.

According to local Palestinian media reports and video footage from social media, Palestinian Authority Security Forces reportedly attacked the funeral procession of al-Kayyal, firing tear gas at the crowds and detaining a number of demonstrators

Three days prior, on Friday, Israeli forces shot and killed another young Palestinian man, identified as Jamil Abu Ayyash from the town of Beita, south of Nablus, making him the ninth Palestinian to be killed by Israeli forces in the village since May.

Beita has been the site of ongoing protests and demonstrations since May, when Israeli settlers established an illegal outpost on Jabal Sabih on the outskirts of the town.

Since then, the people of Beita have been demonstrating nonstop for the removal of the outpost. The Israeli army has violently suppressed protests in the village for months, injuring thousands of protesters, and killing at least nine others, including two children.

According to UN documentation, as of November 19th, Israeli forces had killed at least 70 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since the start of 2021.

This is not just another example of murders committed by the Israli army, but also of the fact that the PA security forces act as an extension of the occupying army. They protect the collaborationist elite that rules the West Bank and suppress resistance to occupation.
