The British government archives has refused to declassify a file about the activities of the Nazi-sympathizing Mufti of Jerusalem in 1941 in Iraq, in the time preceding British takeover of the country. Government censors told author Tom Suarez the contents of the 78-year-old file could aid “those determined to undermine the security of the country.”
Israel’s most powerful weapon is the smearing of its critics as anti-Semites. After the Jewish Chronicle in London smeared Tom Suarez, the author filed a formal complaint against the newspaper with Britain’s main media watchdog, the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO), and won a partial victory.
Tom Suarez writes that the real taboo Ilhan Omar broke was not accusing AIPAC of buying politicians, it was correctly distinguishing between Jews and the Israeli state.
Three years after it was founded, the Amwaj Children’s Choir of Palestine has taken a European tour. And Norwegian, British, and French children’s choirs have come to Palestine to perform with Amwaj in Bethlehem and Hebron.
Abed Sabbah, a human rights activist in Jerusalem, has been arrested seven times by Israeli authorities and jailed and never charged with a crime. He describes the ceaseless harassment and night raids targeting families in East Jerusalem for daring to demonstrate against the colonization of the occupied city.
The British Labour Party adopted the IHRA definition of anti-Semitism, which states that criticism of Israel is criticism of the Jewish people. Thus Israel frames Jews everywhere for the crime it knows that it has committed. But that’s anti-Semitic!
Israel is seeking to remove the Bedouin village of Jabal al-Baba from the E-1 corridor connecting Jerusalem to West Bank Jewish settlements, using expulsion orders and raids that have destroyed community buildings. The village is resisting by building a school on Vatican-owned land, hoping to gain the Pope’s protection.
Israel’s military has used Dheisheh refugee camp in Bethlehem as a rehearsal venue for urban action in entranceways, crowded alleys, and hills. Yesterday it killed 15-year-old Arkan Mezher there. And it is seeking international immunity for such crimes by seeking to equate Israel with Jewry, making any criticism of Israel anti-Semitism.
This article is a plea not to forget Jaffa on the “Disappearing Palestine” maps illustrating the Palestinian loss of land from 1946 to the present. Jaffa was a gem of Palestinian urban life, with a population of 120,000, and assigned as territory of a Palestinian state under the UN partition plan that the Zionists soon overrode, ethnically cleansing the city.
The inquisition against UK Labour Party critics of Israel has nothing to do with anti-Semitism. It is about protecting Israel from censure to insure that it can continue its human rights violations. Spinning world Jewry into support for the Zionist project and equating Judaism with it is anti-Semitic in its effort to corrupt Judaism from within.
