Palestinian inhabitants of the neighborhood were put under strict curfew, shut in their homes with no coming in or out under any circumstances. This decision by Israeli government will surely escalate the situation in East Jerusalem. Netanyahu’s statements about preserving the status quo and attempting to de-escalate the situation cannot be reconciled with this act of aggression.

Ma‘an reports — Israeli forces shot dead a 13-year-old boy during clashes south of al-Bireh in Ramallah district, medics said. The child, identified as 13-year-old Ahmad Abdullah Sharaka, was shot in the neck with a live round, medics said. He is also the third 13-year-old to be shot dead by Israeli forces in the same time period.

Israeli forces fired gunshots and stun grenades “haphazardly” at demonstrators protesting the Israeli forces’ presence in the neighborhood, witnesses said. Clashes with Israeli forces in the neighborhood have been ongoing for the second week, as tensions in East Jerusalem heightened due to increased violence and restrictions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Haaretz reports that Netanyahu has asked the Israeli attorney general to authorize sniper fire against stone throwing protesters.

WAFA news reports: Israeli army forces demolished a house, set two other homes ablaze, and caused intensive damages to properties during a late night crackdown on Jenin city and the nearby refugee camp, provoking fierce confrontations with local Palestinians, according to local and security forces. According to media sources, at least 40 military vehicles, which were accompanied by bulldozers and squad members of the elite Yamam ‘counter-terrorism unit’, broke into the city in the late night hours and cordoned off the house of Majdi Abul-Heja, a well-known Hamas activist and a former prisoner, in Jenin refugee camp as a prelude to demolishing it.

Martinez and Jesdale both said they had met Palestinian trade unionists when they attended the World Social Forum in Tunisia, and Martinez said, “It’s absolutely disgusting what is going on. Free Palestine!”

Ma’an and MEMO report: The healthcare system in the Gaza Strip is on the verge of collapse, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said Monday, warning that hospitals could stop operating within hours due to the territory’s energy crisis. Ashraf al-Qidra, spokesperson for the ministry, said that “Shifa Hospital, Kamal Adwan hospital, the European Gaza Hospital, and Rantisi Hospital could stop offering services because they are about to run out of fuel.” The Ministry holds the national unity government accountable for any harm that may befall their patients due to “the government’s lack of responsibility.”
