It's the world's election. A great line from Obama supporter, and education professor, Edna Ullman-Margalit, writing in Haaretz about how Israelis only get Fox News, and arguing that they should get CNN too to get with the program. (Doesn't even know about MSNBC!):
The change that might take place in the United States
requires a preparation of hearts. If it happens – and I hope it does -
relations between Israel and the United States will move onto new
footing.

From your lips to Obama's ears…

And CNN also sometimes sounds like a Likud mouthpiece.
It seems like everything is being arranged on High to get Obama elected (he would have NO chance of winning if it hadn't been for the financial crisis). Maybe this is to get Israel to break once and for all its sick pshycological dependency on the United States and to stand on its own two feet. Having a President and advisors who clearly don't have much interest in Israel (no matter what Obama may say, he will be hostile) may shake up Israelis enough to start thinking for themselves. Bush is no friend of Israel even though so many pundits claim he is, yet while the horrible suicide bomber war was killing or wounding thousands of Israelis, Bush's minions such as Powell (who has received expensive cars as gifts from Saudi Prince Bandar and has endorsed Obama) was hectoring us to no use "disproportionate responses", which only ended up increasing the death toll on both sides. Every enemy of Israel in the White House claims he is a "friend" and then sticks it to us, so I hope Obama will make clear his lack of sympathy for Israel, once and for all so that Israel can get on the right track finally and act like the sovereign state it claims to be.
Me too–we Americans could sure use that foreign and military aid at home. Not to mention we might regain a tad of moral stature in the world.
