Destroying Gaza to save it

"US Sees Gaza Rebuilding as Opportunity[for Abbas." is the headline on this Reuters story. Has there ever been such insanity? Even partial reconstruction will take years. Almost all government buildings and all bridges destroyed. And this goes on, with no cease-fire? Oh, so we can rebuild it even more completely. And have a bigger opportunity... (Thanks to Ira Glunts, who says I am unduly optimistic about the future. Wish I had a counter-argument.)
