There are 3 spheres of the discourse: the inner sphere of consensus (Ken Pollack), surrounded by the sphere of "legitimate controversy" (Chris Matthews). And the outer sphere: "the sphere of deviance." You've arrived!

I'm a little unclear on something. Are Hannah Arendt's "conscious pariahs" a subset within the "sphere of deviance", or is this more like one of those 'shifting paradigm' thingys? Is 'string theory' somehow involved?
